Engine Swap (Chevy to Pontiac)

Hi Everyone, I Have A 1986 Pontiac,Bonneville 3.8L 231 Engine. I Plan To Swap It For A V8, But I Don't Know Wich one, A 305,or a 350. The Bonneville Had 3 Engine Choices 3.8,v6. 4.3V6 And The 5.0L. My Regular Mechanic Said That If I Plan To Swap My Engine, I Should Get A 350 Because There Are More Part's For It. (But I Don't Know) My Big Concerne Is The Transmission, I Don't Know If The 3 Engines Had 3 Different Transmissions. My Question's Are...Should I Get A 350/305.?
If I Change My Engine Do I Have To Change My Transmission. Pls Help:o
