Well, I finally got a break on some parts I wanted for the modified. A buddy and I went to the Dearborn swap meet (in Belleville?? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) that is put on by one of the area Ford clubs. Anyways, I had mentioned to him that I was looking for a front axle, so he brought his truck "just in case"...
We had gone thru pretty much the whole swap meet, and I hadn't seen one axle at all, when we came across one like someone posted a picture of awhile back, it was outta a Mopar, or Stude or something. It was double humped looking, set up for parallel springs. It was red powder coated, and really nice. I asked the dude how much, and he said $30. Wow, I may get it I thought, but didn't wanna get into trying to rig parallel leafs onto the T frame. So I told him I'd think about it, and as I was walking away, I tripped over something, that turned out to be a 36 Ford front axle. Hmmmm that's more like it. So I asked how much, and he said $10. I took a closer look, and saw it was bent alittle at the drivers side, so I used that as "leverage"... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I got it for $2!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
So, the point of the ramble is, what is the most logical approach to take a slight bend out of a Ford axle? Heat and Muscle? Cold press? Drink til it looks straight? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
And I got spring hangers for $5 too... so far, with the engine, trans, frame axle and spring hangers, I got a whopping $32 into the car, if ya don't count the shipping from Texas for the frame... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Any ideas are apprieciated!
