That's NOT a 409. It's a truck 348 and I can tell cuz of the waterpump. Also you can see the governor on the carb.

It doesn't even matter, W-motors have been going for big cash around here, that's a great deal regardless.

I think GM made another motor that looked like to 09 or 348 but wasn't. better check www.mortec.com (http://www.mortec.com) & ask them Could be a anchor. They even made a weird v-6 in trucks fro awhile.
Good find if itis a 348-409!!

Yeah Jim, the GMC v-6 looks a helluva lot like a W motor, only with 6 plugs. There's a few of them at this yard, They got me all excited til I looked close! This one does in fact have 8 spark plugs though! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif From everything I gathered on the forum at 348-409.com (which I believe a few HAMB'ers belong to) there is a very distinct possibility that it is in fact a 409.

Either way, I think it'll look pretty tough between the fenders of a little straight axle chevy II! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well now...you know there's gonna be ONE screwball in the crowd who suddenly thinks those old weird V6s are pretty cool, dontchya???!!!

(as he raises his hand! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Is that the infamous 305 V6???

Hot Rod To Hell
07-23-2004, 10:50 AM
Yeah Hack... I figured someone like you would like em!

Actually, Kritz is collecting parts to start building a "top secret" little RPU (you didn't hear it from me!), and I told him I thought one of those V-6's would be pretty awesome in there!
