Although I have been a member of this board for a few months and reading it for a few years, I never got around to introducing myself.
I have been interested in old cars, drag racing and dirt tracking for aver 40 years. Was a regular attendee at many drag races in the 70's, (Great Lakes in Wi, Thunder Valley in SD, Indy Nationals, Interstate in ND, Minnesota and Twin Cities Dragways in Minneapolis), but quit going when ticket prices rose and everything got comercialized. Still love old time drag racing and anything about it. Have owned and built dirt track cars since the early 80s and still am 1/2 owner of a dirt track modified. Interestingly enough with the 25 year old son (he drives and co-owns) of the first guy I partnered with back in 1982.
My first and only "old car" is actually an old truck, a 1937 GMC pickup. I bought it in 1982 from a guy that had street rodded it in the 60's, I am the third owner. After a couple repaints, I blew it apart in 1990 and over the next half dozen years completely redid it to the condition you see it on my profile. Did all the work myself , with the help of my two brothers except for spraying the paint. It has been driven a lot in the last 10 years, covering just about every state in the Midwest, (Minn, SD, ND, Wis, Ill, Ohio, Mich, IN, Iowa, KY (and this year I will add Missouri to that list). I do little things to it each year, but get the most enjoyment out of driving it and talking to other people about a fairly rare PU. My friends joke that I willl probably be buried in it, but I say that isnt likely but it will probably lead the funeral procession.
I am a semi-retired manufacturing engineer (35 years in the business), helping out my youngest brother at his fabrication business when the opportunity presents/requires it. My other (middle) brother is also a member of the HAMB and is working on a Model A roadster PU on 32 rails with 40 Ford running gear, Pinto drivetrain.
