Since it seems to be a big issue with classified post being bumped up by people that are not the ones selling the ads, would there be a way that you can block others from posting on a ad? That way only the one that starts the ad can bump it up.

Yeah, we did that for a while and people hated it... Go figure.

In any case, we aren't a classified site and don't really want to be. As such, we don't focus too much on it. I don't think that section will ever be perfect.

We tried that before. It sucked.

We really need the interaction in the classifieds. When it adds to the ad that is.

For instance, someone may think of a question about what is for sale that the seller missed. The answer to this question may be of interest to a great many people. Back spacing on wheels for example. Then the seller can edit the original post to include the forgotten info.

What we don't need is people replying to posts with things that are only of interest to the poster and seller. "PM sent", "got pics", still for sale are good examples here. They will know they have a PM, that's what the envelope is for. If they had pics they would post them or else they have them and will email them. This can be handled through PM. If it's still for sale questions can also be handled through PM.

The idea is to get guys posting ads to do a little extra work and leave potential buyers with no doubt the item is for them. If we allowed all those questions to be asked in the forum it would kill the ads that people spent time on.

We're not trying to be hard asses, just trying to make it work for everyone.
