View Full Version : 32 ford
I just found a 32 3 window coupe for sale. It is really solid except it is missing the doors and frame, but the hood, grill and trunk lid are there. The guy wants a 1000.00 or best offer. He also has a good Pa. title Would I be stupid if I do not buy this.

yes,you would be dumb to pass that up if it is a Ford.
By the way,Lynn Williams who used to own CW Moss just paid $30k for a 3-w body, doors, decklid, dash, window moldings and hood. That should tell you something!!

You can get on the road with it by buying aftermarket frame and 'glass doors until you can find some real doors. A thousand bucks is ungodly cheap considering it has a title.

Brookville Roadster is getting ready to produce a new 3w shortly. When they do you will be able to buy doors that will match your body and they will be STEEL. They are going to be expensive, but they will be right. Besides, if you can get this body as cheap as you claim the price of doors will be a cake walk.

You might not have to go with glass doors if you don't want to.
I talked to a guy from Dearborn Deuce at the Scotsdale GG Show, time before last.
He acted like a asshole, but he did say he'd sell me some parts if I could prove I had a 3W.
( which I couldn't, I just wanted to buy a complete outside skin... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Edit.
Then again, If you are not in a hurry, It might be better to wait for Brookville.
I think I would...
Partly because of that guys attitude, but more so because a body of theyrs I saw in a guys shop the other day.
It did not have the build quality of theyr show model.
And Brookville has not dissapointed me yet with any of theyr Model A stuff...

Now why would you have to prove you have one...what, they are not in the business to make money or something?
A buddy of mine went to the Street Rod Nats last year planning to buy some stuff from them (fenders), and he had talked to them on the phone and they were all "oh yeah, we will be at the Nats" and he goes, tells them he wants to buy some fenders and they told him we don't have any, call us in a few weeks.
I gotta wonder about those guys just a little. You would think when someone calls you, asks about fenders, asks if you will be at the Nats with them, and you say "we will be at the Nats" that would mean "we will have them."
I guess you got to be exact in your wording in todays world http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I still don't get why you would have to prove anything to them...what, like your gonna copy them? Gee, can't do that with a real one or anything http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Odd you mention this...somebody in the DFW area apparently has one and that is the word going around town about it. It showed up and they were shocked on how rough it was...not anywhere close to what you get when a Brookville roadster shows up.
I of course am only going by what I heard, but the guy who owns it I have been told is not going to use it and will have it up for sale.
I might have to get some more details...I am curious now.

His exact words were: "you are going to mess it up, and that will cost us our good name."
If he was worried about his good name, that body I saw the other day should never have left the Factory.
I would have to spend an enormous amount of time correcting it.
Anyway, I dont need him anymore, I have all the projects I want for now...

They are gonna have a hard time anyhow when Brookville hits with the one they are doing. Like em or not, they are doing pretty good work.
I am glad I got a five window...I doubt anyone will make new metal ones of that (I just jinxed it, didn't I?)

Is Dearborn Deuce the one Jim Inglese is involved with?
If so, their doors won't fit anyhow - it's not an exact replica of a 3W. It's close, but I had an opportunity for a 3W w/o doors & started researching where to find doors & contacted him. He was friendly enough & straight up about the fact his doors wouldn't fit an original. He claimed the body had already been designed & the dies made before he got on board with the co. & if it were him, it would have been exact - he said most of the other sheetmetal would fit though...

If that deal is real, the owner must have been hidden in a bomb shelter since the sixties! Even if it turns out to be Model A pick up with a hacked on humpback trunk its worth that much!
WHY would you trade that beautiful 5 window 32 for a 32 3 window dude?
33 and up...YES! But the 32 3W has too much side window/door length compared to body length going on or something for me! Never been my favorite in all honesty. I think the popularity of those 3 windows is based on rarity...not beauty.
Once they stretched 'em out in 33 they hit their stride! 33 and up 3 window's RULE.

No it is right here in York, The guy that has it, paid 500.00 for it back in the early 80's. It has sat in a garage in Dover (town) ever since then, he is loosing the garage and asked me if I could pay what he owes on back rent and the car is mine. I looked at it again this morning, hell there is not a rust through spot anywhere. I asked what happened to the doors and he said he used one of them to patch his wheel barrow, and he does not know where the other one is. This guy does not know anything about cars I am just glad he did not cut the body up.
Bruce Lancaster
07-21-2004, 10:55 AM
Jub, it would be difficult to cut that body up into pieces small enough that the fragments wouldn't be worth $1,000! Even with the expensive obstacle of the doors to deal with, I think 10 times that would be cheap.
That thing can either be a dynamite project OR enough money to build what you want.
Send me the address and I'll checkitout for you just to eliminate your uncertainty...

Yes. I'm very dissapointed with the quality of the Dearborn. I was set up to be a dealer for these guys a year or so ago when they started really promoting this new project. we talked with jim and he really had us sold. We preordered 4 bodies, but as things went on and on and on we lost all of our potential customers for these things. My partner went to Syracuse and saw another dealer who had an actual production model on display, and he said it was horrible. Now the roadster is a different story. Either way, I'll wait for Brookville. Superior quality and super nice people to deal with.

It is a total honor to own a real 32 three window. I also think that 33-34 three window's lines flow better but the one year only, one model only, super rare nature of a 32 three window makes it my favorite. 1932 coupes and roadsters ARE hotrodding. Because of the low numbers produced, 32 three windows were never "easy" to find, even in the 50's.
Nothing, I repeat, Nothing on these cars is cheap. The doors will be next to impossible to find and when you do, they will cost a small fortune (3-5 grand each). The dash alone is 3 grand, garnish mouldings are 3 grand, a good deck lid is a few grand.... etc. etc. etc. The Brookville ones will be twenty grand and only drive the price of the real shit up more. A totally junked out 32 roadster will fetch over ten grand all day long even though ten grand will get a brand new Brookville unit.
Heart and Soul builds model A's. Heart, Soul, and cold hard fucking cash build 32 three windows.
Dude, if that car is really a 32 three window, you lucked out in a very big way.
