A few days ago I saved this 62 caddyīs life. Some guy planned to build a couch by cutting down the trunk. That hurt me so much that I paid him some bucks and pulled that old boy to his new home.
The car is almost complete, the sheet metal is straight with some minor rust, but the engine tranny comboīs missing.
Now I wonder what to do with that POS? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
It definitly needs to be slammed and a new set of wide whites on red steelies or 5 spokes with 1" white walls would make a good stance. But what about painting? I actually love that sun burnt old paint.
Iīm sure you īll have some great ideas!

I think you have the right idea already! I just saw 1 off
thoughs last week. The guy had air ride on it, it was black
(fresh paint) He went about the look a little diferant though. He had 17" red rallys with chrome smoothes in side
the car was hamered. It looked about 10000000 feet long.
It made me think. "That's so Money" I'm not sure what
engine I'd run. All depends on the $$.

#1-get it running.
#2-drive it.
#3-then decide what to do with it.

find the original engine that came out of it and put it in a hot rod. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

A buddy of mine still has a Caddy 500 engine which probably needs to be rebuilt.Itīs a $ 1200 six banger īcause 2 cylinders are kinda dead. Those Caddies are very high priced over here, that made me think about a Chevy or Pontiac 400. Certainly itīll need to be a big cube engine , a 283 wouldnīt do http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since you're over there, how about the big Mercedes V8? Polish the valve covers and stuff. Or is that motor too shitty? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It'd make a KILLER El-Cadmino. I know what's it's like to score an american V/8 in Bavaria....spent 2.5 years in the Nuremburg area. We looked high and low for a SBC to power a crippled Austin Healy and finally settled for a 348...
I'd take any big american V/8 I could afford and stay with the Cad-Mino idea.
Choprods made a nice one from an orphan 58 chevy more-door, using a 62 GM back window section 'zactly like yours. Makes a wonderful rear glass for an el-camino style machine.
Plan 2 would be to shorten the entire car to a sporty 2 door. The accompanying weight loss would make it easier to use a sbc in it to save some $$$$
Discaimer: These wacky ideas come from a warped thinking apparatus and may be damaging to your wallet, marriage and friendships.. your mileage may vary. Not valid in Costa Rica.

Hey! The world is a small thing http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I live about a 100 miles south Nuremberg and 60 miles west of Munich.
I really like your El Cadmino idea and I have seen those pics of the 58 4dr being converted into a Camino here on the HAMB.Hell of a job !I īve also seen a 59 Caddy converted to a El Cadmino in Sweden about 2 years ago and it really looked great.

A sbc is not that hard to find,ok, you canīt go to the next junkyard and say :One sbc, please. They would look at you with wide open eyes http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif and tell you, that theyīve never heard about that engine.Maybe one older guy would remember they used 327īs on some Opel Diplomats. But searching the local papers or car mags mostly works out.
I bought a good 327 250 HP std bore last weekend for about 300 dollars.
Today a friend called me and told me about an 59 Oldsmobile engine and tranny combo I could have for free, should I go for it?I donīt have a clue about olds engines http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Ps:Donīt worry, Iīm not yet married http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh man, that thing is killer. I'd go w/ semi-gloss black w/ that color scallop...or go all out and hit it with green bass boat paint and white bass scallops.
