The old lady has the camera about 3 hours away so I couldnt' get pics, but I went to a local yard tryign to find a suitable radiator to replace my soon to be dead one and there it sat. I have no idea exactly what make or year it is, but I'm pretty sure it's a late 30's chevy truck since there were some hubcaps that looked like they belonged to it in the bed. I couldn't see the front end for lots of shrubs and briars, so i couldn't do a whole lot of identification.
I didn't think too much about it when i drove past it since there were no doors on it, but after hearing the guy say he'd take $200 for it, and he thought the doors were in the bed. I had to go back and look again. it appears to be complete besides the top of the hood, motor had everything on it, including carb and air cleaner. Typical NC rust, only bad around the bottom. I didn't look at it REAL close cos I was in kind of a hurry, but for $200 it can't be bad. He told me you could turn the motor over by hand not too long ago.
if anyone has pics of what the stock dashes look like, I might be able to ID the year by that.....any cool pics of mean ass late 30's chevy trucks would be cool too.

I like just about anything from the 20's-30's. It'll be cool to build something that's not a ford since that's all everyone around here seems to build. I've got a running 292 with a th350 at a buddy's house that i could stick in there when the time came....

For $1600, you could have a nice looking body and frame from 34FordTruck (that's not his name, but it's what it means. Look in the classifieds...).

hell I wish i could afford that one. I have to start with cheap ass shit like this one and put in $100 here and there when i can. I can do all the rust removal and alot of metal work for next to nothing, and that'll keep me busy for awhile. Hopefully I'll bring the thing home tomorrow, if I can get the ol lady to come down I'll get some pics up and try to figure out what the hell it is exactly. All the chevy trucks I saw online had hte headlights mounted from the grille shell, but this one looked like it had lights mounted on the fenders....I dunno shit about the chevys.

If the headlights mount on the fenders it's a 41-46 the grills are narrow on the earlier ones 38-40 and the lights mount on the grill. Also on the 41-46 the grill has 4 horizotal bars at the top (match the hood)then a bunch of vertical bars below like an oversized Willys http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I just picked up a 41 a few weeks ago (sorry no digi.cam) I took 3" out of the top, looks a lot better.

You may cruise over to www.oldtrucks.com (http://www.oldtrucks.com) and check out the year ID, may get some help there.

Good luck, sounds like a pretty good score.

any pics of yours? I was looking around at pictures, and I don't think those were the headlights on the fenders i saw, maybe just marker lights or something....I REALLY wish i'd had the camera with me.

Why did'nt you just ask the guy selling it what it is? He runs the yard, most guys know exactly what they have.

Was the ID tag on the firewall? The Chevrolets I've worked on from the '30's back, the first two digits were the year of the vehicle.
