View Full Version : Disappearing posts?

How come some posts disappear and some threads get out of order?
Just lucky, I guess.
Actually, the Moderators remove posts they feel are inappropriate. In only 99 percent of cases are they actually so.
If a post is responded to it will return to the top. That may account for "Out of order"
Hope that helps.

Hmmm, I wonder if the other disappearing post question may have held the answers to your question?
As far as why do some posts stay and others go... some of it has to do with who trips across it and a lot of it has to do with complaints received.
For example Joe HAMBer posts something pretty OT and it goes down the line. No Mods are on or they're busy answering the same question for the 40th time. Meanwhile someone else posts something equally OT and the mod is done answering questions and sees this OT post and kills it.
Meanwhile the other OT post sinks like it should until one of the OT post lovers decides it needs a new shot at drama and brings it back with something like a link to adultsheepfinders.com ;) and then the complaints come flooding in. When that happens all mods of that forum get emailed. Assuming the mods have lives of their own, a mod may opt to kill the post rather than taking time out of what they're doing to hold a caucus and debate the merit of a post of some 400 pound chick squashing a Subaru.
I guess the moral of the story is... Read a lot, post a little and if you're gonna post shit and/or respond to shit posts, don't get your panties in a wad when the post disappears.

seem funny that the numerous other posts in the same thread that include profainity, nudity and "sheepfinder.com were allowed to remain? smacks of favoritism! As I'm not a member of your inner circle I'm sure I won't be getting a reply to this post?Hmmm, I wonder if the other disappearing post question may have held the answers to your question?

Chill man!
I meant that all light heartedly. I don't even know which post you are talking about. I thought you meant in general. I used the sheepfinder.com as an example.
Profanity is fine. NUDITY IS NOT ALLOWED. It's one of the few things people have to agree on when they sign on.
Oh yeah, by the way... I rarely play favorites and some of the people "in my inner circle" can attest to that. Either way, I didn't kill your post so the whole inner circle thing is way left field.

Perhaps the guy that did kill my post would like to "Explain" why my reference to sheepfinders.com was so offencive when everbody elses' was fine? or is he going to continue to hide behind you? why are you taking this Sh*t for him? let him answer for himself!

First of all, I'm not the Mod that Deleted your Post.
But I could have been.
If you post useless Crap, dont be surprised if it goes away.
Other useless Crap doesnt make your useless Crap OK.
Basicly, you made a mess on the Floor, and now you are angry with the Janitor that cleaned it up for you....

So it's going to be like that.
I'm "taking this shit for him" because, as stated, I thought you were just asking in general. When will I learn to quit trying to be helpful? Since you are asking about a particular post you probably should have mentioned that and you should probably ask yourself why you're dealing this shit out.
No one here owes you an explanation and you're not really gonna get one when you are playing internet toughguy.

For Gods sake.. Answer his point & stop beating up on him! I hope that not all the moderators are as rude as you? Perhaps you should delete this whole thread so other members won't see the way you treat people.First of all, I'm not the Mod that Deleted your Post.

I'm the admin of the site... The buck stops here. Your post was deleted because it linked off to another site that was inappropriate. Could other posts in that thread be inappropriate? Absolutely... Maybe they just haven't been reported yet or maybe we haven't seen them...
Point is, this is a hot rod site... And you shouldn't be surprised if something unrelated gets deleted.
We aren't perfect and don't claim to be. If we don't do a good enough job to meet your standards, you don't have to post or read here. Let me know.
Further, I just checked... there are no other references to that site in the thread. Nor is there any nudity... We've always allowed profanity.
Sorry to upset you guys, but I'm having a real hard time understanding why you would be upset. This is a hot rod site, not a sheep finding site...

That simple explaination would have avoided all this... I have nothing but respect for curious rash & you and what you do. however I find metel shapes approch to this suject to be offensive & heavy handed. As sugested in Krazy Kate's post perhaps it would be a good idear to lay this thing to rest by deleting the whole thread.
Metalshapes is a good pal and moderates as a volunteer. He's pretty protective of the site... and link offs to stuff like that can get me in trouble with my hosting company. Hence his aggressive stance. That and the "winteritus" of internet hot rodders can drive us all crazy at times...
I'll bet you a HAMB shirt that you will really like him when you meet him in person...
In any case, thanks for the nice words and I hope you enjoy the site. We all work pretty hard on it, but as said - we certainly aren't perfect.

Well, in my defense, I honestly thought I was answering the question. You were just coming from a different angle than I thought.
And in Metalshapes defense, he's from Holland. :)
A lot of folks take us (mods) the wrong way. To the poster it is personal. To the mod it's just "business". It's easy for both sides to get crossed up coming from two very different perspectives.
I'll be the first to admit, I'm not perfect (actually my wife might be the first to admit it for me) and the methods of moderating such a huge site are far from perfect.
All in all, we do the best we can.

Just curious, I read all this and was wondering what got the thread I started about tire stores deleted? (granted I hadn't checked it so I have no idea what got posted to it in the last day)
Just curious if the whole subject was outta line or some crap somebody stuck on the end? I didn't think it was completely off topic to talk about what stores would and would not mount tires on non stock rims since that's very likely to affect some of us.
Not mad or anything, just looking for where the boundry is.
