Tim, years ago I was given some advise that seemed wrong at the time. "People don't buy serious art from ads". I learned a $1200 lesson. If you are selling prints, the internet might sell you a few. If you are selling work that is "worth" something, get in with a decent gallery that can serve your prospective market. Car art fills a very narrow niche... and there are hundreds of great car artists. Would selling at shows or swap meets be a better move? Probably. If anyone really has the lowdown on selling any kind of art... they are keeping it to themselves. Good luck. himmelberg

like it or not, automotive art seems to be the ghetto of the gallery world. a few folks make decent scratch at the game but it's rough sometimes.

one difficult thing to realize is that you can't be in a hurry to make money from your work. sometimes it takes years of woodshedding to hone and perfect your craft to the point it begins to hook folks. I see an awful lot of work out there that's not up to scratch. practice and draw. master new techniques. Stay Away from the Computer. make it too easy to slide by and undermine your own growing skills when that damn box can iron out all the defects and shortcomings in your technique.

above all, though, stay engaged, keep learning, and build up that toolbox inside your head. a lot of guys and gals accumulate true talent later in life. I'm 42 and every day I'm reminded of how much I still have to learn. it never stops.

discouraged? don't be. it's the truth.
