Hey guys, I've got my eye on a '63 thunderbird parts car for some parts for my bird, but its got a decent looking 390/c6/9 inch, just waiting to be plucked!! My question is has anyone ever put this combo into a '37 Ford and what all was required to do it? This is for my Dad's car, and I don't want him to take the easy way out and put a SBC in it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Also, if no one has done that has anyone ever put a nailhead or y-block or anything else cool into one? Thanks!

If your buying one to put it.... A novel idea would be to Really be cool and put a flathead in it, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

haha, no flatty. need a little more uumph than that. nothing wrong with an SBC either, but a 390 would be waaaaay cooler. he just thinks it will be too much work. naaww! anyone done it? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There is one running around our area with what the owner claims is a 428 cobra jet. I have also seen them with bbc. C6 is one of Fords better ideas and even us Chevy guys appreciate the 9”. If I see the car at any of the cruse nights coming up I will try to take some pictures and post them

The 390 does have a little more uppp then the flatty

A couple of things you might want to check: how wide is the rear end from the T-bird and will it fit taking into account the amount of off-set you want on your rear wheels. Also, how much are you going to have to modify the firewall due to the Ford's longer block (might even be able to buy a modified one from somewhere like Bitchen'). Motor mounts and frame mod's for the trans are also something to take into consideration. 'Nother radiator will also be needed too.

we will probably do some measuring once we get the FE outta my bird, but no one has done this? I hope that means no ones thought of it, not that its impossible http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
