65 Rivi question

I want to put an edelbrock carb on my 401 because the quadrajet that is on it now is crap and I just never had any luck with Q-jets. My only concern is the linkage and all the factory vaccum lines that hook up the the carb. Has anyone done one and was it a pain or did everything hook up pretty easy

It's a fairly simple swap but be sure to hook up and adjust the switch pitch on the trans and adjust it properly. I t would be best to find and earlier AFB from a riviera to make life easier or you can just swap out the manifold and carb as a unit. The Q-jet manifold has some value and you can get a AFB manifold and carb for it alone. If you would like to trade i have the parts you are looking for.

i think all us nailhead guys want that manifold. i've been looking for one for a while now that it looks like the rebuild is mandatory i'm looking much harder than before...ken....

Hey all you vultures salivating over a 66 intake: if i read the original question correctly, he is going to replace the Q-jet, not the intake. I think he means that he is going to buy one of the new Edelbrock q-jet copies. So he is not going to change the intake out, simply put a different carb on and was wondering about thelinkage hook-ups.

I agree, just make sure that the switch-pitch is set up right and the carb has full throttle opening, without any binding. Vacuum lines can be figured out and either run off the carb or manifold. Should not be too hard to figure out.
