Hey guys , ... Have any of you seen the frenc TV documentary on the first Moon-Landing ? Remember I was awe-struck when it happend`, and I must say I was quite astonnished when I wied this program ... Have we all been Lured ?? The Only guy ( Walters , CIA ) who would REALY tell , was killed the very same night he gave the nod to the TV-crew.The big give-away was the Hasselblad used by the astronauts ( Not covered in any way , even tough it could not work in those temperatures it was exsposed to ) & the foot-prints ( Heavy Guy prints / NO weight-guy makin`em )& no Flash used when takin`photos. ( No reflections in visires ) .. Quite a Funny TV-prog , but with so many High profile american politicians ivolved/Interwied- participaitin` , and with Kubrick involved .`Who knows.... ? BTW .. The documentary was made because they found a "pre-Moon-landing" TV-speach with Nixon telling that Armstrong & Crew had died in their attempt to do so ...Scary , but FUN http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Any Thoughts ... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You weigh 1/6 you weight on the moon (not nothing)
The moon surface is bright enough to take a photo with out flash (It looks very bright from earth ¼ million miles away)
Watched the moon landing from a Very isolated logging camp, snowed in, when I was 10, one of the most vivid memories of my life.

Ok, since this thread is here, I have something that I want to know if anybody else has heard or know if it’s true or not. The story is; Armstrong said something on the radio when he first steps on the moon that was not widely reported. It was something like, “There you go Mr. Bancroft” or something like that. When command and other folks asked him about that, he would refuse to explain it. So some years ago, he explained what he was talking about: it seems Mr. Bancroft, (may not be the correct name), died so Armstrong could tell the story. He said that when he was 9 or 10 years old, he was playing in his backyard and heard the next door neighbors auguring through an open window. So he hears ‘ol Ms. Bancroft yell, “Oral sex! You want oral sex!?! You can get oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!” Anyone else hear this story?

Much of the space craft was built here in Huntsville Alabama. So in red neck form we left a junk car and trash {Tang containers} on the moon and some rocks were brought back. This stuff is at the Space and Rocket Center here in town. Yes Dr VonBraun's rocket boys did tell the story about the neighbor.

Where is this post headed? I think it's kinda funny that folks don't believe we landed on the moon. Considering how relatively easy it would be to hoax such an event, wouldnt Russia, or China, or even Nazi Germany have hoaxed it before us? C'mon, people, give yourselves some credit- we have not had the wool pulled over our eyes, even though Michael Moore would debate this point. I can see it now- Michael Moore travels to the moon to expose the greatest government scam in the history of America- THE MOON LANDING.
We are America for Chrissake! So we are generally more successful than other countries! Who gives a rat's ass? Give us some credit for saving, oh, only the WORLD a few times! Even Caesar's Roman empire didn't do that!

both of us are too young to understand the state of the world when we landed(or not) on the moon. your faith in all that is good and right in america is exactly why the WOULD fake something like that...not saying they did or did't. look up operation northwoods for an interesting read on what "they" were thinking about doing in those years.
i caught a glimpse of something the other day that said something about the nazi's being in space, and working on a mars trip or something in 1945. no i don't believe it. but it's interesting to see how they were going down completely different technological roads than we were, and how we changed our path after we discovered the things they were up to. how about researching and prototyping devices to bring down airplanes...using sound waves?

If you don't believe in the moon landing, I personally think you're a kook. You may be a cool kook with a righteous car, but a kook none the less.
And today's Armstrong is not using. Too proud, too dignified. He just works hard enough, and is blessed with enough extra lung, to be the best. I am watching today's stage right now, even though I read about it online this morning. Good stuff, bicycle racing. Tactics, sweat, politics, speed, and nasty crashes. On a side note, how lame is a bike shop without a TV during the Tour? I can't believe I work there...

Re: Lance Armstrong
Absolute true story: when I lived in Austin, I was partner in a 3-guy software business. One of my partners (Bart Knaggs) was a serious cyclist and close pal of Lance, and served as his road training rabbit/sparring partner/punching bag.
At the time (circa 1996) Lance was one of the top 4 or 5 cyclists in the world and a star in Europe, but he was pretty much unknown in the US and could walk the streets of Austin without being noticed.
Anyway, one day at our office, Bart gets a call from Armstrong; the conversation was all "oh, shit", "oh God," etc., so I ask Bart what was up. He relates that Armstrong had just been diagnosed that day with testicular cancer; the survival prognosis was very bad. Something like a 5-10% survival rate for others in the same stage.
After he hears the story, our other partner - Trey Herschap - tells us that he, himself, had survived a bad case of testicular cancer when he was in his 20s, thanks to a team of specialists at Indiana U Med Center; he lost a nut in the deal, but was 100% cancer free for 10+ years. He had all the names, treatment info, etc., and put Lance in immediate contact with his old specialists, some of whom became Armstrong's core treatment team.
I guess you could say that my old partners were partially/indirectly responsible for Armstrong surviving. But the real reason Armstrong survived was his insane, one-in-a-billion physical fitness. It allowed him to risk levels of chemo that would have fried anybody else.
With regard to the Lance Armstrong drug rumors, you can chalk that bullshit up to petty French/European jealousy. Here is an American who kicks their ass at a sport that they are supposed to "own"; therefore he must be doping/drugging (ahem, just like us). Psychiatrists call this "projection."
Bottom line: Armstrong won't use drugs because he's been thiiiiis clooooose to death, and doesn't plan to return anytime soon.

What is history but a fable agreed upon?
Napoleon Bonaparte
I believe that we DID go to the moon. Why? Not faith. I've seen the inner workings of NASA. I grew up in it. The amount of effort spent on that was incredible.
We did go to the moon. I've personally talked to 50 or more of the engineers that worked on the LEM, the suits, the gear, the parachutes, and most of the astronauts. Many of the astronauts were neighbors. I spent half a day with the guy that designed and built the space suites since the Apollo program. He still works at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
I've held moon rock.
And right now I'm supporting the latest Russian flight to support the International Space Station.
When you start digging into real space lore, it becomes facinating. Particularly when you start looking at all the circa '60s engineering.
BTW, if you EVER get a chance for a behind the scenes tour of KSC at Cape Canaveral, take it! The stuff they build and assemble is incredible!

I was an 8 year old living in Pakistan when I saw the moon landing live on television. I was utterly enthralled, I couldn't believe what I was seeing but yet I knew it was real. The elders in the household were less convinced, being as they were from another time. Their comments were along the lines of, "Impossible, it's against Allah's will, man was never meant to do this."
Then again when cars were invented naysayers thought that speeds above 20 mph would fry the driver's brain.
I believe in the moon landing because ever since we were made people have theorized about the impossibilty of things that indeed became possible.
It is also my belief that some of you jingoistic assholes will get past your bigotry and quit attacking 'furriners' every time they make a post.

Nads, my friend, was that directed at me? I hope you know that I share your disdain for racist assholes.
Let me be clear: I attribute the Lance Armstrong doping rumors to French-Euro jealousy because it is true. The main source of the rumors is the French press (like L'Express and Le Monde), who have for the past 6 years run annual stories insinuating his drug use -- alway hearsay from anonymous and/or unattributed sources. Armstrong is in the process of suing them for libel, and I hope he nails their collective lying ass to the wall.
Nothing racist intended there, buddy.

it isn't so much whether it happened or not, the point is to question everything, if you believe everything they tell you, wou will be lied to. informed people don't become that way by blindly believing things, they ask questions, who, why, how, can you prove it?

Wll, Ray, your sig does criticize American politics, so I shouldn't expect to change your mind- but, even if we didn't (which we did) land on the moon, we, as Americans, have successfully fooled the ENTIRE WORLD! We did them a damn-damn! Even if it didn't happen, Ray (which it did), our oh-so-stupid government did something no other person, country, or organization has ever done.
Now, me, I'm an optimist. I like to look at the bright side of things, and believe in my country. That's called "patriotism". It ain't blind, or misguided, it's based on the good things that our country has given to us. And living so close to the Air Force Academy, you should know that we have some of the most outstanding people working in our government and armed forces. Furthermore, if you are gonna tell me that my father (who worked on building sattellites at Moffat AFB) was a cameraman for events that never happened, well, hate to say it, Ray, but you are wrong.

Sure ya did! I ain't gonna question the moon landing, cause there ain't nothin TO question. Accepting what you are told is a fact of life. Lemme give you an example- You work all day, at the end of the week, your paycheck floats onto your desk, mailbox, whatever. I'm not sure if you do, but most folks don't see the paymaster directly, but they know they will get paid. They don't question that. I don't know if you ask if you are gonna get paid, who is the paymaster, etc, but you do indeed get paid. That's blind faith, believe it or not.
As far as mentioning the military, neither did I. My point was to tell you that the government, although it should be kept in check, is not out there to get you. If you constantly question the government, especially over something that happened over thirty years ago, on the international stage, you MUST question the government over every tax you pay, law that is impoesd, etc. Again, it's good to try and keep tabs on what the government does as it is by the people, for the people, but remember that it will not try and "bite" you.
My father, someone who works for the government, cannot tell me a damn thing that he does at work all damn day! For eighteen years I have not been able to ask about his day, cause he swore not to tell. Would YOU trust him? Well, since asking him qusestions is out of the question, I guess not.
And NADS, once again, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this country and it's government is pretty forthright in their dealins with her people. I only used NADS as a reference, as he has lived out of the U.S., and has a broader perspective on all this.
I don't want to brew bad blood here, but making a claim that trusting the Gov't is fallacy is pretty insulting, and shows a lack of respect for the men and women that run this country.
Okey dokey.

We were in a street side cafe one evening just chatting up a storm in english/ The waiter came up and asked us in english if we were ready to order. We told him we needed a few more minutes. He turns to the busboy and says (in French) something derogatory about Americans figuring we couldn't understand him. Well my Mom lit into him in French and reammed him. I've rarely seen my mom so POed. Then she called the Manager and told him about how insulting this waiter was. Needless to say, the Manager found us another waiter. The look on the waiters face when my mom started in on him in perfect French was priceless.
