I've been trying to log into this site off and on for about 8 months. I have finally made it!! So I don't piss anybody off, I'll start with an introduction. My name is John Cooper, I live just outside of Indy and have been an active member of the Cluster Busters Hot Rod Club for 30 years. I have had many cars over the years, ranging from all out show cars back in the 70's and 80's (yes, sad to admit I was sorta a goldchainer) to street driven cars in the 90's to tradtional hotrods, beginning back in 1999. It took a while but I've finally seen the light. Traditional cars is definitely where it is at. I currently have a '51 merc that was done back in '57. A '32 Ford sedan, '57 Chevy pickup and working on a '39 Lincoln Zephyr. My son, Dustin who is 16, and myself put together the 57 truck, it is slammed on the ground, flat black with red wheels, whitewalls and live lakepipes. Dustin has a red and white'55 Desoto as a daily driver. He drives it most everyday (when he's not doing some routine maintenance that a 50 yearold car requires). Some of you in the midwest may have met him or seen some of his work. He has been pinstriping for a couple of years now. I'm not real computer literate but will try and get some pics of the cars up soon. I have been a lurker on the HAMB board for quite sometime. There is a lot of useful information here that you just can't get any place else.
Thanks,

TimW

Welcome, sounds like you'll fit in just fine. As far as the goldchainer thing, I think we all have a few skeletons in the closet. Hell, I once had a a pair of billet mirrors in the mid 80's! Keep your son involved, I owe my love for this stuff to my dad and we still run around together in our hotrods. Good Luck!

Welcome aboard...is Dustin the young striper that works out of a shop on Gasoline Alley next to Automotive HammerArt? If so, I saw several examples of his work at the chili & beer party Denny & Thom threw late last Summer!

Very talented young artist! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Probably met you there, too???... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, that is him. He did a '59 Bentley for Hammer Art last week. We had the 57 truck and the blue and white 51 Plymouth suburban there at the chili party.

That was the Mrs. You may have seen more of her at the pin up contest at the Road Rockets weekender.
I believe Hammer Art is planning on doing the chili cookout again this year. I'll let you know when I find out more.
