Has this been disgust before?
Can we have one?
Bad idea?
That’s a long way to go to possibly break something
What do you all think, one in each time zone?
Bakersfield?

12 hours or 3 days, either way if you break something you have to fix it to get home.
This year our groups bringing a tow bar and if someone breaks and we can't fix it to get home, we'll tow it. Might be a thought. Get a group together to come out, someone drive a truck pulling an empty trailer just in case.
It is a don't miss event, even if you don't race.

It sounds like a GREAT idea.
After I did the Ego-Rama-lama-ding-dong... that's when I got a wild hair to do a similar HAMB event... someone had suggested a Drag Race and next thing you know, Ryan and I are hashing stuff out and bouncing ideas off each other.
Initially, I had wanted to do a Ego-Rama type even and just wanted Ryan's approval... maybe hold the event and wind up at the Palmdale Antique Nats at the end of a two day driving event. Well, that would have been just one more thing to do in California... and would pretty much exclude the majority of people on the board. So it was decided that the center of the USA would be the best place for an event. It's almost like a HAMB Nationals. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
So, doing a HAMB Drags on the West coast, as convinient as it may seem... is kind of counter to what I feel it is all about. That is, a central meeting place and an excuse to leg out the iron.
I would also would have liked to have seen it held in Kansas, at Great Bend... but Carl has been so good to us, and the track atmosphere is so great... that extra five or six hours of driving ain't nuthin'.
Where is the center of the United States anyhow? It sure as hell ain't California despite what many people think. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sam.
It's in Kansas

Central location is nice, but it’s a kinda big country we live in.
No hot rods on W/C. That’s funny. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Driving to the drags would be half the fun...
We got the antique nationals etc here. It wouldn't be nearly as significant/exclusive here.
Come-on man, you're making us West-Coasters sound Lazy. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That must have been the "someone" that suggested a drag race. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Sam.
Could be Sam. Not like it matters as long as it continues right pal. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Which brings us to the question everyone has been asking... "Is Zeke going to have the gasser at the HAMB Drags this year??"
Sam.
I would say no Sam, Zeke and I and Rad are making plans to go fetch the gasser from Neals place AFTER the drags.

Well as a left coaster I agree it's too far east but i feel for the boring midwest (Born in Detroit) but I would travel to say Utah or Colorado or somewhere that's a little closer to a gas station.
There were never anyplans to have the Stude at the drags this year. I know better than that. I do hope to have it sitting up and begging next year though. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Add my vote to those in favor of a West Coast HAMB Drags.
Put it within 12 hours of Seattle and I'd almost certainly show up. Further than that and coordinating the calendar could be more complicated.
