View Full Version : Mart's 36 coupe: rodding in reverse!

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of my 36 coupe taken today. The car is not yet registered in the UK so I have been busy toning down the appearance, as the less modified it looks hopefully the less trouble I might have when registering it. (Don't ask).
I fitted a set of steels and 6.00 and 5.50:16's. Most of the work is hidden, for example redrilling the hubs accurately and fitting thrust bearings into the modified strut front suspension. I also shitcanned the ill conceived twin cowl mounted wipers and replaced them with a single overhead unit stolen from my Ford Pop. Yes, it's vacuum powered and yes I know vacuum sucks. Ha ha. (apologies to any Limey reader who read that already on the NSRA forum).

Just a few more jobs before it's ready for it's MOT (roadworthyness) test and then I can fill in the forms for registration.

Are the tail lights off a '37 or is that a standard UK '36 feature?

No, Kid, they're 36 Dodge buckets with Lucas light units adaped in.
They're bigger and more rounded than the 37 Ford lights.
The buckets were cheap too, a lucky swap meet find.

Yeah, V8, tell me about it.
Ernie: Not sure what they're called, but they are as used in the late 50's on Morris's and Wolseleys and the like.

The Dodge bucket is mounted on a swivel base salvaged from an old Lucas spotlight.

Mart, that lense may be the same as Volvo P-1800.

Nice fit & looks good. How much more for the MOT?

I've got to find a rod-friendly place here...my old steering box is a bit loose & I spent today trying to tighten it up to no avail. I'm really not ready for a swap out...just need to find a sympathetic tester http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks good Mart, Is that a change to the fuel door location or is that a correct location?
Now get that thing registered and rip the fenders and engine side curtains off of it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Good job!
