Hey, just wanted to introduce myself.

My name is Gene, and I've been lurking on here for a while now. I've been building and racing sports cars for the last ten years or so, the current racer being a 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia prepped for vintage competition (which I built in my garage). Lately, however, I've had the bug to build something not quite so track oriented, but I know myself well enough that no matter what I build, I'm going to want to take it out on the road course.

So the project that I'm working on, The Kestrel, is a homebuilt special inspired by American and English-built racing specials of the 1950s, prior to John Cooper's mid-engine revolution.

The car currently consists of a pile of parts in the garage and a partially finished tube-chassis. The current plan is to use a 331 Hemi that I have sitting in the garage, mated to a Chrysler 4-speed and a Ford 9" (although I've been thinking about running a Quickchange in the rear instead). Suspension is conventional SLA front (stock car parts) and a 3-link/panhard rear (C-type influenced).

I'm hoping to at least have a running chassis finished over the winter, then it's time to start on the bodywork. I'm using the "Stovebolt Specia (http://www.forix.com/8w/fos04-fri/photos/fos04-fri-stovebolt-special-taylor.jpg)l"as my inspiration.

The goal is to build a street car/hot rod that I can also do a couple of track days at Mid-Ohio and Road America with.

Anyway, it's great to be here! :)
