I was wondering what I can use to wipe the body down with? I must have 2 or 3 cans of wd40 and assorted other spray lubes, tree sap, bird crap all over the truck while spraying hinges, bolts, etc, and now need to remove it to start on the body work finally!
I was thinking scotchbrite pads and white gas cause I got that crap on hand but I'm open to suggestions

I would use some liquid laundry detergent, like tide unscented. Use a 1/2 quart to a gallon of warm water. I would not use a scotchbrite pad,but a terrycloth handtowel.White gas would leave a oily residue, and more problems. After several washings with the detergent, use a good grade of paint prep degreaser solvent. Glenn

How about some godo ol' dawn? I know its supposed to remove stuff like grease pretty well..
Original blue DAWN works so well I'm surprised the treehuggers haven't got it banned yet. It's gotta be "bad for living things" the way it works so well.
I keep a bigger bottle of it out in the garage than I do in the house, but I've also used it for a mold release so you don't want to leave any of IT on the body either!

Yes ,any kind of detergent will work well.Be careful of those"super clean" cleaners, like that purple stuff though, they are really harsh on aluminum, and will even dissolve paint or primer. I think they have acid in them. Glenn

thanks for the cleaning tips you guys, started some sanding and what I thought was a pretty dent free cab and doors is starting to show about 10 tiny dings per square foot, can hardly see them but I can feel them so I'm gonna primer it grey and nobody will ever notice http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
the roof is another story dents and bumps are springing up all over! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif and some dick used contact cement to glue carpet to the inside of the roof and that crud is some tough crap to get off after being there for 20+ years
under the old paint on the doors I found the name "F.S. Taylor Creston BC" I got a buddy last name of Taylor with some relations in creston I'm gonna see its one of his and see if he can get some history on it
