I've been lurking for quite some time, but finally decided to register. I'm looking to build a Model A hot rod, but it'll be a while till I can afford to do it.
I just graduated college and I've been working 60hrs/week just to make enough money to live on. I'm a truck driver, but not a semi truck driver. I drive a flatbed F350 and pull a 30-foot trailer. The pay is terrible, but I love the job. When I was in college, I worked in a warehouse and hated it. An hour at that job felt like a lifetime.
Well, like I said, I don't currently have a hot rod. I drive a '91 Ranger that's sort of my modern wannabe hot rod. I'm doing a few hot rod-esqe things to it. For example, I've got a bent rim, so I'm replacing them with some 14x6 solid steel rims and some '48 ford hubcaps. Also, I don't like the shifter because to get into 5th gear my arm is almost completely stretched out which I find uncomfortable. So I'm making my own with a piece of steel rod, which I'm going to just do a simple bend in it so it's going to look like alot of the shifters in cars from the 30's and such. Also, I'm using a shift knob from a 50's Ford tractor, and a shift boot from a Viper. I'll post up pics when I'm finished.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm looking forward to contributing what I know, and I'm definitely looking forward to learning a whole bunch.
