Why hide a motor so pretty in an old cow chaser like that??? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

you should fit a piece of plexi into your hood to show off the mill.you better add a trip to the glass shop while you're at it...

Yeah .. I know this is what kills me about the whole thing...I will probably just run it without the hood maybe...When I started with the whole Cadillac in a GMC gig it was just for the hell of it.I had the engine it was a runner, originally I had bought the motor to put in my 49 Ford,it sat in there for a year when I bailed on the project because the car was a rust bucket..My friend said why dont you just build the damn truck and turn that into a rod?! Its a straight rust free truck and i bet that Cad you have will go right in there nicely..So the plan at first ws to stuff a stock Cad 331 in it with the Hydro and that would be it.But I couldnt leave it alone, after reading all my old Rod books on hopping up Caddies and learnin about all the cool speed equipment that was out there, the build was on and there was no turning back so here i am some $8000 and 5 years later with a show and go Caddy under the hood of a GMC Truck!!It is a one of a kind though!!the plexiglass thing has been mentioned alot, but that would look down right ugly...

Damn fine looking caddy, ditto on the cowchaser tho, ugliest hood ever made imo. Plus side is the torsion bars if you still have the original front. Nice smooth ride and easy to drop.

Uptown..thats funny you did that..that was my original plan!!! Thats crazy...I thought I was the only one who thought of that...Thats pretty damn cool....I wanted to retain the tailgate access..I dont know whay I never really haul anything in it....Oh well..Nice job though!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Nice (and inspiring..) to see that project wake up and go somewhere. Allways dug the concept, and I mean that.
The Chris Ito-drawing is bitching in my book. But hey I can understand that the metalwork involved is extreme stuff. But at least dont give up on the style of the truck in the rendering. Like the paintjob, and some other touches.
How about white tinted primer and blue flake panels?
Cadillacin Marcus

Thats an idea Sailor..I was waiting for you to chime in...I thought about you and Purple the whole time...you guys go way back and were always behind the idea....
Oh and I'm not behind it. Why do you think I'm giving you shit about it ya wanker? You can do this if you take the time to do it and I mean spend some time working on it. instead of letting it sit.
Cadillacin Marcus
07-17-2004, 08:13 PM
Shit sorry Zeke.....I know you're behind me...and T Man too!! crap I feel like one of them people when they win an award and forget to thank people!! hahaha... ---"You Can Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I know I can do it...thats not the issue the issue was financing.... back in 2000 when I stared Hot Rod Vintage Parts I put all my money into that..I could have finished the truck 5 times over if it werent for that blunder...
And all the money you keep piling into grannymoblies is helping? Sell that fucker and start putting some of the profit into that bitch. You finsh that plan and you won't catch half as much shit from folks. Don't be a PrimerFag(tm) and half ass it bro. Even though I don't have the coin I will do the Stude the way I have it planned. It'll just take some time after I get my debts paid off. I'm not copping out so you have no reason.
Go get a real job, do some side trades and make it happen. There's alot of us that wanna see the Jimmilac finished. Right now it's just Jilli Vinili. Fuckin' posin beeaaitch.
Well the challange is laid down. Do it or loose face. What will it be? No time frame, just get it done.

I have been absent for a awhile, I happened to notice you got your truck running Marcus, thats cool! I thought you wanted a 60's style custom truck when you asked me to do this sketch?
"No heavy ass bumper and fins.."? huh?, Ok here is another, I still have the grille inverted just for a different look, but the body fabrication is severly toned down. Some blue windows to compliment the candy-pearl panel job. I threw the moon tank from your bed in the grille just for the hell of it, just don't ass end any one!
Cadillacin Marcus
07-18-2004, 05:29 PM
Thats insane!!!! my only problem is how to get that grille to sit in above its original home..I have been looking at it hereand man thats gonna take some fabbing, also the 6x2 set up is out of the question now.....I guess someone with talent should be able to it...But I like this one alot better..has more a hot rod look to it in which I want...Wow Chris your awesome...truly beautuful art work!!
Ok without the lame leaking carbs

Cool truck, don't see too many 1960 Apaches running around, and less with the stock hood!

Here's my farmtruck with it's new $20 paintjob.
This is before I spent $20 at Ace

Looks like you have alot more go with yours, I'm running the same 235 that's been in it, and never apart from what I can tell since it was slapped together.

How about keeping the stock grille-opening, but with a rolled pan and chromed stock grillebar (with some Lucas-like headlights). The openings in the hood could just be cleaned up with a short row of chromebullits in each slot. Repeat the rolled pan in the back and french in the BelAir-lights. Then do the paintjob, dumptubes and wheels from the rendering. Just thinking out loud here. I really dig the rendering, but the by far coolest in it is the overall style/theme. The least good about it (if Im going to be a tad criticical of something very cool..) is that the altered grille makes the fullsize-truck look a little small and minitruck-like. I dont know.

Well shit Sailor what are your inside my mind?!! hahaha Thats what I wanted to do all along!!! but everyone wants me to get all insane in the membrane with it,on my budget!!..I like the stock 60 Chevy hood big time, always have, for one.. no one ever runs them, and two they are bitchin! typical of the era and style for which the truck is representing!! Finally someone gets it!!Sailor that is how the truck will be done you wait and see...Its easy ,practical and will fit the period look to a T...Enough said...
