3 Records for Team Galbraith Racing running our 1968 Triumph Trophy 250
250cc M-PG 78.820 mph (broken by RJ Racing at the meet, see story below)
250cc M-PF 79.198 mph
250cc MPS-PF 80.425 mph
We held the M-PG record for about 24 hours, before R&J Racing took it back from us in a CLASSIC Bonneville Horsepower Battle. It was Harley (Aermacchi) vs. Triumph duel.
My dad (ChopPop) got into a near tank-slapper headshake on the Triumph at 70+ mph, proving that you dont have to be going FAST for things to go seriously wrong (he got out of it ok, but it spooked him for the rest of the meet and he didnt ride again).

One of the 145 pics I took out on the Salt. This is the Horsepower Showdown of 2003 !!! Ron Jay and his 250 Harley Sprint and Team Galbraith's 250 Truimph Trophy. We were the only ones there running head to head in the same class. We both ran about the same speeds, and became fast friends (pardon the pun). We all had the same screwed up line of thinking, and are putting about the same amount of effort and $ into our racing. Turns out, the M-PG record changed hands 3 times between us at this meet. My Dad set the record last year with a LOW 43mph run (on a clogged main jet), it was then broken last month at SpeedWeek. Ron ran down the Salt first at 71 mph (running against the 70mph current record) and then I ran a 79.006 mph. At impound we agreed that he would run his back-up run first, that way he would set the record, and if I came along a few minutes later and broke it, he would still get a trophy for breaking a record. Ron backed up his 71 mph qualifier with a strong 79mph run <http://www.sacborg.com/ubb/eek.gif> (seems he was having some fuel delivery problems on the qualifier that kept him to 71 mph). I backed up at 78.635 for a 78.820 record.
Ron got his problems sorted out over the course of the day and came back with a 80.157mph run and qualified to backup the next morning and take the record back from us. He backed it up with a 79mph-ish run to break our record, but fell short of the 80mph mark for the average.
We tried some different combos of pipe, jetting, and sprockets, and final got our bike to run consistant 80 and change mph runs. One cahnge we made was to put Melissa (who holds to records on her 1942 Harley) on the bike and see if she was any faster (smaller, lighter), it didnt help much, but she had fun riding it.
