Howdy,
The name is True, not a handle, really my name. I just "finished" rebuilding a 32 Ford Pickup that sat in a barn for 25 years somewhere in Alabama (so the story goes). I also run a 59 Chrysler that my Dad and I dragged out of a salvage yard in Santa Cruz. The car had been abandoned because the brakes had gone so we stuck in a new master a drove her home. My Girl Harmony and I did some rattle can scallop work and put in an interior. Harm drives that one most days.
As to my question:
My 32 has a 396 in it and has a whicked pop out the exhaust on the drivers side. Thought it was a valve adjustment, wasn't, then tried rebuilding the heads, found a bent valve and thought that would fix it, needless to say it didn't.
We changed out the distributor, put in electronic ignition, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, the works. Ran compression today and have a great range between 160 and 175 lbs. The cam looked fine when I had it apart. I am tearing my hair out.
My guess at this point is that I have a leak on that side in the intake manifold. It is a used Edelbrock midrise, and it is fairly questionable.
Anybody know something I don't (and I am sure many do but I am talking about this particular prob, I suspect I may be missing something.)
Take a look at the pic...this car needs to go down the road.
Thanks,
True
