was at a trade assoc. meeting today and one of the vendors had a little contraption called a readywelder. basically it is a hand held wire feed mig that hooks up to 1, 2, or three 12v deep cycle car batteries. it will also attatch to any dc welder. pretty wacky little deal. i took a couple of passes (t-welds on 1/4" plate) with the flux core wire and i was pretty impressed. i got mad penetration with a 2 battery set up and only about 3/4 power, so i have no doubt the thing can actually weld up to 3/4 like they say. anyway, check it out
