You can use it....but a good d/a will drain that tank in a hurry.

I'm confused - what does your hair style have to do with sanding a car?? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Bondo Hogg will drain your compressor faster than you can say "pass the Murray's so I can tighten up my d/a"

The D/A is a great all around sander if you know what your doing. I have an electric disk sander that works great made by Bosch. It has the "Stick-it" velcro pad...works great and has a dust bag with it.
I never use it, Ill sell it to ya if you want...it has 2 speeds....its practically new... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif $30 + shipping.

similar to this one...but w/ a soft bag...The one you showed looks like it would turn too fast...too fast means "dig action".
If your interested, I can take a pict when i get home.

i have that same comperssor. that shit sucks and so damn loud. are you going to sand it down to bare metal? if so it would take so long with that comperssor. straight line sanders are cool only on flat surfaces unless you know what you are doing. i want to sell this compressor for a bigger n better one.
i would invest in a good D/A. comes in very handy all the time. i have a Hutchins 6" and a snap-on 8". my comp won't even push my 8" D/A. i've never used an electric sander so i can't help there.

I've got a similar size compressor. It will run a H/Freight D/A sander pretty well. The D/A is great for feather edging and getting into inside radius corners. Yes, the compressor will run out, and you will need to take a break. Let the compressor build up some pressure again.
The straight line air sander really uses up the air fast, much worse than the D/A but it still works.
IMHO, even if you got to stop once in a while, it still beats sanding by hand.
Correction, it's a Campbell Hausefeld 6" D/A. Maybe slightly better than a Harbor Freight.
If you get a D/A Get a short throw D/A .
Then you can use Finishing Film and Trizac
For final finishing.
Here is a great little sander, not bad on air ether.
This is one I use everyday. More than my high dollar sanders

Rig an auxillary air tank between your compressor and the DA.A 100 lb propane tank is cheep and usually free. You will run out of air but it takes longer to do so and also takes longer to refill while you smear more mud. Used one for years and REALLY helps when painting.
