after doing all the prep grinding and "spin sanding" [tm]
you get the metal ready to really polish up...

after im done with all this work they're going to the chrome shop to get dipped. The front bones will go first.

tools ROCK. I bought another polisher too... this one is the 1800RPM 3/4 horse balder... the other is gonna be a 3400RPM 3/4 horse Baldor. I wish i had more money to buy more tools... damn.

The before and after really show how much the buffer will take out...
Just wanted to share... everyone should own one of these.

WOOOHOOO! Them babys look positively killer! By the wording of the post's subject, I thought your polisher broke your bones! Dannnnnnnnnnggg.
Hey, I was able to score my Buick drums from Carkiller and I'm going to try to get something done on them this weekend. My clutch and brake guy mic'ed 'em and says they're like new so stop stressing about it.
I still gotta knock the buick hubs outa the drums....
Anybody need a pair of 59 Buick front hubs with the inner ballbearings and seals? no outer bearings, sorry.

and dirty, as EVERYTHING made of aluminum or stainless that falls into your grasp gets polished. my polishing corner looks like a coal mine covered in dirty threads.

anyway, that's what happened to me. try an intake next....you'll love it.

Cool Rocky!
I took some pics of the reg tab and the hubs... i was going to post it earlier showing the part that was keeping the hub from just setting on the drums.

I cant wait to get the drums and backing plates etc. installed on the axle!!

I bought non ferris polishing compound too so I can polish up the aluminum.... its gonna be gold chain 60's SHOW ROD all the way.

Glad you scored those drums! I worked out a trade with killer for the air unit i was gonna buy with some horse tradeing...

cool how everything seems to work out.
im gonna take pics of your new dash tomorrow!!
hope ya like it!

DAN... LOL you should see my shirt and pants already! I look like i was working in the mines...

I used to work at a shop that had all this equipment. I used to just take my stuff in at night and polish it up. That corner looked just like what your talking about a COAL MINE!!!

Its funny when I started to do my own work all the sudden you feel handicapt without access to the tools... I remeber how happy I was to get a paint shaker... this is about just as cool.

yes....just don't hop into bed with that poo all over you. the gal'll hit you in the head with something big and sharp if you get that black grot on the pillows.

speaking of which, from the title of your post it looked as if something caught and broke in the polisher, fragged and gave you a compound fracture. you'd never think 3/4 HP could whip something out of your hands with so much force...wow!

Friend has a polishing business for 30+ years. His motto is "people bring me ugly stuff and when it leaves its pretty...meanwhile the ugly is on the floor, ceiling, walls, my eyes lungs, hair and pores". He says he uses the filter on the end of a Camel as his respirator cause the Camel is less deadly than the aluminum and stainless floating in the air. He looks funny too...he has permanent mascara. I used to clean his shop for payment on polished goods, now I found cash makes us both happier!

Looking good Tuck. We were in Sears yesterday and I tried to talk the wife into one of the better Dremal tools. Maybe, Xmas is coming up.

J Slacker,
You may start a post as a newby and do an intro of what you build/Work on/Past cars. Just a little FYI. Also this is one of the guys that met you at the Quik Trip north of Kansas City as we were on are way to Bonneville in the Roadster P/U. I just came across your card the other day and was going to Email you.
