Ok I always thought that you were supposed to get between 3-6 volts going to the points after the resistor.I had a stock coil on this engine when I put a voltmeter to the + end of the coil I got 4.00 volts and the engine wouldnt start for shit...today I installed a new MSD Blaster II Coil with the resistor that comes with it and when I put the voltmeter to it with the key on I got a full 12V at + end of the coil..?? but now the engine fires right up every time...But I'm concerned I will burn up points..any thoughts??

Some coils have an internal resistor & require a full 12V to the coil to operate properly...Another gotcha is coils have different impedenace ratings & some electronic ignitions can be finicky - doubt it would matter much on a points setup like yours though...
