I agree with you. have you ever thought about burnt orange for the olds close to copper, not popular for a few years, would look awesome.

Its ugly - I want it (for lets call it scientific purposes) - but its waay to expensive.

It actually looked better yellow. It is a shame that a '55 Plymouth had to loose it's trim to such an ugly car.

somehow a lot of Barris' ugly cars made it over to France, some guy wanted to open a museum or something, he never did, they're all for sale. Some pretty cheap, considering the price of parts/shipping/tax some are even worth buying for the parts. How's that for sacreligeon? http://www.barriskustoms.fr.st/

If someone buys that, when NOBODY would jump on the Watson clone, I'll be pissed!! There's history and then there's ugly! Although, painted black, it might make for a good scary car movie. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Down south we call that F U G L Y.
"Aesthetically pleasing" in a horrible car crash sort of way.
As many times as I've seen that car for sale, it's astounding that it's only had 7 owners.
Such a shame that Moonglow got crushed yet the Modern Grecian still lives.
Much like Liberace's gone yet Richard Clayderman's still around punishing us with his "soothing sounds".

You sure that wasn't built by Chuck Barris?

I've seen earlier versions of the car.. didn't look too bad. Had some different hubcaps and that was before he did that weird shit with the headlights. Still... something isn't right with that car.

Kurt McCormick(sp)dosent own it yet? I wonder why.

It has those wings in the pic with the yellow paintjob as The Modern Grecian. I hope McCormick buys and restores it, -fugly or not.

This is actually one of his better looking cars. Most of them were flat ugly, ridiculiuos and not even functional. Duh, lets make a car out of a toilet or a pool table. Must have been some dam good drugs around.

Sure, If you say so...
As a piece of History it's neat.
As a car it's an Eyesore...
You fill several pages flaming V8s Coupe, but you are defending this thing?
Must be because of who built it...
At least he did not paint a moustache on the Mona Lisa that time, like he did with the Chrisman Coupe...

NO...... to me its more like "WHEN" it was built, it has nothing to do with WHO built it,,,,,,,
I recall that it was also an EYE SORE to most of them when they built it... I think it was a 47 not a 48.........
I see the Kustom as something that was built to seduce michigan. maybe the worlds fair... Like the air car. etc etc etc....
It's a designers kinda HAND JOB, like the saharra.....
V-8s coupe was built by ALVIN and the CHIPMUNKS... with SEMI TRUCK wheels......and bitches in greaser GANGSTER suits who left their guns at home......

just the WHOLE reason of "WHY" it even exists,
I like the way the early custom guys aimed towards detroit with WEIRD stylelines, and futuristic JETSON like concepts.
I guess to me, as ugly as alot of the cars were that they built, I still
can see REASONING and EXPLORING behind them...
sure some were ugly,
But so were KUSTOM 69 RIVS
and 70's t-birds
Its neat to try and study
The way that some of these concept kustoms even came to be....
The history is neat,
maybe GAYLORDS merc would have been done before Sams, had the army not called him...?
There were alot more UGLY cars built back then, and sometimes TRUTH can also LIE, because ALOT of stuff from the early DAYS was HACKED FULL of LEAD, rather then CLEANED and FINISHED..............Lost of stuff was PRIMITIVE, even some of the famed BARRIS customs had various flaws...
when I see a car LIKE this one, sure it's GROSS. But The HISTORY is kinda neat.........

Yes, the History is neat...
And that's why it is great this car still exists.
And hopefully somebody will pour an enormous amount of money and love over it to get it back to what it was.
But it will have to be somebody else than me...
I also really like ANDY KAZZAS 32 coupe with the funky nose on it,,,
and
Hy rosens T is pretty neat to see,,,,,
Those are barris jobs from the early 60's...
kinda uniquely built........
the KOPPER KART is grand,
but back then lots thought it was UGLY, wasn't it a 56' chevy at first? with dual headlights?
michigan learned that from the KUSTOM folks.....
but that was before "The GAY BITCHES" polluted the state......
MOTOR CITY brought us the MC5 and BARBITUATES mixed with WINE and cocaine.....
Now they offer us documentery films, and WHITE rappers

I agree. Its not beautiful or rockariffic, but its a piece of weird kustom-history, with loads of cool little details. As The Grecian (before the facelift as Modern Grecian) the main problem is that the Studebakes has awkward proportions. The rest is just as good as most other Barris cars from the early fifties.. but I guess they suck in general these days... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
