Either I don't know WTH I'm doing (as is often the case) - OR, the search engine totally SUX!
I wanted to search for a thread (tech would be great) on modifying a MoPar distributor to fit into a late flattie - so, I typed in flathead distributor. I got a zillion threads with the word "flathead" and another zillion threads with "distributor" in bold red type. I thought, perhaps I need to put the two words in quotes - so, I typed in "flathead distributor" - BUT, I got the same results. Hmmm......how about flathead+distributor - NOPE! Finally, I tried "flathead+distributor" and got, "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
I know.............I'll look for a tutorial!! Zip, nada, zilch. Hmmmm..........ooh, ooh - Surely there'll be instructions in the FAQ section! (click on "FAQ" and get................a search engine???). I'm outta options!! Who knows how to find old threads that are titled with more than one word??http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/cussing.gif

"This forum requires that you wait 10 seconds between searches. Please try again in 5 seconds."
it always seems to give me that message.

I've never seen that message and I use the search feature a lot. And I generally find what I'm looking for if it's there. The search engine here is good.

So hackers don't flood the webpage with material causing slowness or complete lockup.

Soooooooo..........What did I do wrong? I typed in every iteration of "flathead distributor" that I could think of (except "dizzy" - THANX for the link, SinisterCustom). What would YOU have entered? And, YES, I was using the "advance search" feature. http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/dunno.gif

The search works fine if ya know how to use it, I admit it can be a bit stubborn at times. Try seaching the HAMB through google. Copy and paste this into google search.
flathead distributor site:jalopyjournal.com
other searches you just have to type out what you want to find then add the "site:jalopyjournal.com" without spacing at the end. This works for any site for that matter.

Aaaaahhhhhh................I SEE, said the blind man. I did it and it worked GREAT!! THANX, Tcoupe! http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/thumbup.gif It's a shame we have to go outside the "HAMB arena" to get good search results - but, I'll get over it! http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/dunno.gif

THANX a bunch, Bryan! That's exactly what I was looking for; NOT just putting the Mopar electronics into an 8BA dizzy - but, installing the entire Mopar distributor into my flattie (I want both mechanical AND vacuum advance). http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/thumbup.gif
I also found an article in one of my Mike Davidson books that shows the same procedure - plus, I have a friend up here in the foothills that owns a machine shop. So, I think I'll be "good to go". The next time I'm headed down Roseville way, I'll PM you for your addy and bring a six pack! http://www.turboford.net/ubb/graemlins/cheers.gif
