I stumbled across this site after browsing around a few street rod forums, and I was blown away enough to join and attempt to be a part of the madness.
Growing up watching my Father who was a gearhead, master mechanic and jet engine mechanic I was always dirty knee'd,and walking barefoot in the garage checking out all the neat rides Dad was working on. He always had a cool car around, and scared the crap out of us kids with blown alcohol coupes, injected big blocks and altered wheel base shoe boxes when he was tuning them up or starting them for the first time. Up until he passed away in 2004 we still had our straight axle'd 37 chevy coupe anxiously waiting its turn to get back on the asphalt. He carried it to each house we moved to across the US,in hopes one of his kids would someday build it back to its glory. Unfortunately his passing was very unsuspected and many many items of great interest were sold off to help pay for funeral expenses and such, and the 37 ended up in the hands of a good friend who is going the opposite way of the build by using MustangII frt end and typical street rod fashion parts. The car is missed already but we cant go back in time to fix things otherwise dad would still be here right now.
I grew up in the pits of Fairburn Georgia Dragway, and read old CarCrafts/Hotrods mags of dads instead of doing homework(still have his mags!!)He campaigned a 67 Chevelle SS in G/MP with a destroked small block 277 and a 4 speed after the 396 couldnt hang with his high rpm shift points.
There are us 4 kids...3 boys and 1 girl and all of us gearheads/dragracers even the daughter. At one point until his passing all of us "kids" had a drag car which was a real chore to get all of them to the track at one time but we managed to on a few occasions.
At this time we have an all steel street legal 10 second 68 Impala and a backhalved 68 Camaro running low 11's at the moment. The 68 Impala now sports a 14.0 to 1 468,3800 lbs and fun as hell, with the Camaro needing some work but sporting a 12.5 to 1 mild mannered 350 running consistant 7 teens in the 1/8th with my 17 year old nephew behind the wheel.
I guess long story short,I love to fabricate, drag race, build customs and have grease under my nails. I am scouring swapmeets and salvage yards now and days trying to piece together enough parts to build me my own rat rod or find that perfect 37 chevy to once again own and replicate our old car.
I have been reading a ton of threads here and am impressed with the attitude of most all members, and quality of the builds I see posted.
Sorry for the lengthy introduction thread, but I wanted to share a little to begin with.
