My dad bought this delivery - actually it is an ambulance body several years ago. I have been so busy starting my family that I have had very little time to help him. I helped do the chassis orginally a couple of years ago but other than that he has done everything else himself. We decided to put it together to drive for awhile and work some of the kinks out. I guess I am here to brag about my dad's delivery. It is a 1952 with mostly 49-50 components. They built the "commerical" trucks with whatever was left over. Now it sports a '95 LT1 with 700R4 and complete '87 Corvette suspesion. 17" wheels and a whole laundry list of stuff left to do - a little gold-chainer for you guys but we do everything ourselves. And he has virtually built this entirely by himself. I am pretty proud of him for this one http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif.....

Underconstruction....delivery....corner-burner and ground hugging stance. Only get's better if it were sitting in your driveway. I second the motion: more pic's soon, thank-you.

Does it have glass on both sides or just the passenger's side? I recall seeing a National ambulance conversion very similar to that in Massachusetts several years ago.The glass was partially frosted with a cross running through it on the right side only;the left side was metal. It was originally from Arizona if I remember correctly and still had the fender mounted siren and light, two spotlights, and flashing red auxillary lights mounted on the front bumper.Inside it had provisions for a stretcher/casket so it was probably also a,"first response" vehicle doing double duty as a hearse. This was pretty common in smaller towns.
Looks good and want to see it when finished.

Stoogie,
There's probably room on the planet for all of us.
The old ambulance looks ok to me. When you said sedan delivery I was expecting your standard big n boxy Carry All.
Good lines. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It has the windows in both sides. It was the "factory" stamped panel. It was pretty neat but all the wood supporting the sides was rotten. So the challenge is to create a location for the windows. We thought about just flushmounting the windows but thought it would take away from what it really is. It had the seat frame and you could make out parts of the area for the stretcher. The more we dug into it the less there was...so cutting the floor out was not too big of deal. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
It did have the frosted or etched glass in the side. Both were broken. It had big lights on both sides. I bet he took 30-40 pounds of lead out of each. It also had a big hole in the middle of the roof for some other sort of light or possibly siren. If I can find photos from when we drug it home I will scan them. I'll get some other photos up to night if I can get my pc to manipulate the photos to the right size.

Stoggie.......the ol' man's delivery looks a lot different than the last time I was over there. When I first saw this car [?] it was a pile of parts with mucho rust and rotten wood.
The ambulance builders took the GM deiveries and framed the back of the car in WOOD! Looked like an early 30's GM body when I saw it. I drove my 50 sedan delivery over to Troy's dad's place to look at this car and his dad said he wished his car was as far along as mine. Not anymore! This car is really beginning to look like a car again. The Corvette suspension and bracketry is top notch....one of the best parts of this car and it's all home-grown. Glad to see it's come this far in the 7 or 8 years since I saw it last...Hope your dad was able to get some use out of the sheetmetal I sold him...

Thanks Rocky - using lots o sheetmetal. Need more hood parts but have several sets of doors and things that will be back on the market. Need another hood for sure - gonna try to pie cut it without hitting anything.
He bought a pretty clean delivery a couple years ago. About 6 weeks later the guys called and wanted to buy it back. We had switched all his really bad stuff onto this car and he was in it less than $100 when it was done.
Got a couple more photos I can not post from home so I will put them on tomorrow morning.
