The cast OEM Chevy ram horns should work fine. I think someone on here hasd a set for sale recently.
The ones that exit at an angle are best.

The ram horns will work if the drives side isn't a center dump. I used a set of later 350 manifolds which run under the plugs, a lot easier to work with since I still have the vent tubes in place.

Ramhorns flow pretty damned good too, some say they are better than Shortys.
I used the 350 ones that WW mentioned above. rear dump, you will need to trim off the firewall ribs and around the firewall rib "foot" Not a big deal, the ribs do nothing, they were used more for moving the car on the assembly line.

The onnly rams horns that would work on my sbc in a 50 chevy were the 68-72 chevy pickup ones with the "twisted" outlet. Even then I had to grind on the manifold and on the pitman arm for clearance. On a sharp left turn, the pitman arm touched the manifold but I learned to live with it. Hey! It was a hot rod!

Rocky,
Those are the ones I was talking about. They exit at about a 45* angle vs. the straight down type. The regular chevy ones that dump out the back will work. They just will not flow as well as the others.

how about running 2 right side manifolds, would then be dumping up front and should have plenty of room that way, of course it would require fabbing a bracket for your alternator if its mounted on the manifold now. just a thought, did this in my 41 panel with a 371 olds motor then ran pipe down and over to the passenger side. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

These are 55 Chevrolet V8 manifolds.

The top manifold is the steering box side. Note........it has a boss cast into it for the alternator/generator.
The bottom one is almost exactly the same BUT no place cast for the alternator/generator. I run the lower one on the drivers side of my 40 Ford (with 283).

NO!!!! Sorry I wasnt clear before, I was sneaking a shot at the HAMB at work. USE THE REAR DUMP 350 manifolds!@!!!! They dump way to the rear. I think mine were and early 350 equipped pickup item. The earlier ones have no holes for the Smog crap,,,,I think. Mine are clean with no extra holes, I threw away a pair that I got with the car with a bunch of Smog Fittings on em.

That's what I was thinking run a passenger side one on the flip side and there's room to spare. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
