Profile Picture problem...can I get a little help plz?

Hey...I am wanting to post a small pic in my profile and can't seem to get it to work... I made the damn thing 80x80 and even tried smaller but still got "pictures must be 1000 bites or less"...I'm not exactly what you would call real keen on pc's so if anybody could give me a heads up on what the problem is I would greatly appreciate it.

Put the picture you wanna use in your profile in a post as an attatchment, then link to it.

Make it kinda small and square for best results.

If you sign up at photobucket.com you can shrink your photos by 75,50 or 25%. All you would do then is copy and paste the IMG url.

I guess i need to figure out how to download my pictures to a damn site even though I am lazy and don't want to. Some sites let you do the browse thing so I can take em right from my pc to where I want it. I hate being pc illiterate....grrr....

Ok, I've been dick'n around with this thing for an hour now and am beginning to think I should get myself a mini-bus to hot rod, as I feel it would suit me better at this point. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif What the hell am I doing wrong? I've made my pic small, uploaded it to a post on this site, copied the link location and pasted it into the space in the HAMB "MY HOME" URL location. 'Picture is improper type', or some crap comes up... I'm very even tempered, but I'm getting mildly pissed trying to do a reletively "simple" thing. I suggest a detailed "how-to" from one of you "computer whizzes" out there, as I'm apparently a technological moron. Thanks.
