and is running a suicide front end..

Any one have the mesurments of length, width, kickup in rear?
and has pics of the overall car?

Just curious, have the square tubing laying in the garage.. Just want to start this thing already.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

the kik up depends alot on what you are riding on and how you are going to mount it with
stock rear cros member with transvers leaf
coilovers

and theframe lenth is all about what look you are going for

I was thinking more like a 7 inch kick up with a 10 bolt chevy.. and coilovers ..

Something like the Total Proformance frames..( not spending the money on one)

I want it porportionaly perfect.. Not to long, but not to short.. (sound vage?)

What i would do (and this may only be me http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) is start really checking out the rpu's you see at show's and gathering's.
When you see one that has the 'look' to you, talk to the guy and see what he did..
Most guy's would love to tell what they did, and sometimes they made mistakes that they can tell you about so you wont do the same.

Having one in front of you that has the right length, but may sit to high, will still give you part of what your looking for.
Others may sit the way you want, so you take that info too..dig?
Once you gather all the info your looking for, combine them into your own creation..

Yeah i know, i didn't give you what you were actually looking for...sorry man..

Just one way of gathering tech in order to start on the right foot.
Tony.

Rectangle is a better choice for frame rails.
You can start here:
http://www.wescottsauto.com/site2003C/frame_specs.html
and here:
http://www.the-antidote.com/one/1chass01.htm

Some of the dimensions are a function of the parts you are using.
If you use a stock T rear spring on top of the rear axle,
you will need more kickup than a 40 Ford Front spring mounted behind the axle.
A stock front axle, with a stock front spring, would require a different setup than
a dropped axle with a low arch reverse eye spring.
Understando ?

Mock up whatever parts you have, move them around until they look good,
then fill in the spaces inbetween. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Check the archives for pics by "Rogue".
He posted som kickass frame pics, and he knows how to put together a RPU.
Don't stop until you find them. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok, Unk...

If I am using a stock T frame ( I don't wanna hear it's junk from y'all, I'm using it anyway) what would be the best way to go about mounting suspension?
Should I use split bones, or, as Hack suggested, run regular bones and let the frame "suspend" for me? I'm gonna run a 216, closed driveline. Nothing more hopped up than maybe a 2X1 and homemade headers...

Sorry to hijack your post ratrodder, but I was gonna ask this anyway and ... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you mock up the front tires, axle, and stock wish bone,
you'll find the ball on the wishbone is 10"+ off the ground.
Does that sound right ?

Now levitate the motor in position,so the transmission clears the wishbone.

Does it look promising yet ? Or does it look a little too much like a 4x4 ?

If you like the look,go for it.If you don't like it,change what you have to to get it right.

Hey Rat, I am in the same boat. I was going to mock up a frame using 2x4's before I cut the steel and get the look I wanted. I haven't had time to do it yet as I am getting the house ready to sell. That Sucks for building a rod.
