I have a chance to pickup a very solid and somewhat complete 1958 Olds 2-dr rolling chassis for about $500. First off is this even worth messing with? Are there any parts resources for this car? Also, I'm trying to get my head around this thing as a custom, does anyone have any pictures of one customized? What do you think?

little brother has one, have'nt really done anything to it yet. i've been told they had the MOST chrome trim of any US production car. no pics, sorry...

that car has loads of potential. was talking with a coupla buddies about this just a week ago. you just don't see enough of those or 58 ponchos done. i wish i had one. parts are out there and usually not that bad. i want one to do as i do everything early/mid 60s mild custom. loads of chrome so i would hope for it to be at least decent or your bill for that will be skyward. you could take the easy route and drop a 350/350 combo in it and make a nice driver easy. i would say if it's a solid car it'd be hard for me to pass on and i don't have room for anymore cars so that says something...ken....

I'll have to check it out again. The last time I saw it was last fall on a trailer and they hadn't done a full inventory of the parts in the trunk yet. I'd sure like to find a picture or two of one that has been customized. Thanks for the input so far.

I think they are pretty ugly cars, but here's one anyway:

Whoops...didn't notice it was a 4-door. You get the idea still anyway.

that last pic looks pretty good. i'm usually pretty good at seeing potential in alot of funky cars, honestly hadn't seen anything in a 58 olds until this post. cool stuff.

Yuk, just my opinion. Funny my favorite car is a 58, but the buicks and olds just do nothing for me. GOODLUCK! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
