These are some pics of my Maratta built chopped merc originally owned by George Remington. The 1st is when it was shown in the 1956 Hartford show and the 2nd is a shot in my garage.Slag decided to blow it apart for some pretty serious matal work underneath and removal of a gallon or two of unneeded mud after we abused the shit out of it for a few years. The car was originally candy gold and was soon after painted 56 Chrysler maroon. Always looking for pics or info! The car was based out of Astoria Queens N.Y. AND YOU GUYS THOUGHT ALL HE BUILT WAS THE PINK BEAST!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow, That is nice looking, I did think about the Pink Beast when I read the title. Nice to know Maratta will be remembered for building Connecticut Dragway, a nice '30 A Coupe and this Merc. When the Pink car was scrapped they filled a 55 gallon drum with body work lead.

Maratta only chopped it and rounded the hood corners and did the taillights!

Hey Anthony:I kind of like it with the rocker trim but hey it's your car.I'd probably do it up original but I wouldn't feel that I was OBLIGATED to do so.Knowing your fanaticism about vintage customs and rods, you'll probably put it back on. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifLookin'good.

I love your car and I swear I swear I always wanted Lincoln sidetrim. On the west coast Dick Dean was the one who usually cut em like that as far as bringing them straight down at the posts leaving full length 1/4 windows.

Anthony, what color are you going to put on it? Whats the mill? I know a guy who may have a pics of that car from back in the day. He bought a a guys personal photo album at a swap meet & it's loaded with pics of customs from various shows in the CT area from the mid 50's to around 62. It's instant wood looking through it. I know Ray Soff made a few copies of some of the pics he has. Next time you come to a show up here, the rumble maybe, remind me & I'll introduce you to the guy & he'll let you thumb through the album because he usually keeps it in his car. But even if there isn't pics of your merc in it it's something you gotta see anyway.

Either something close to the Gold it was which is still on the dash or something close to the Chrysler Maroon it was with paint work by Slag. The mill is a garden variety S.B.C.When Igot it there was a big block olds under the hood!

As you can see there was only a tea spoon of plastic in it over all the lead

what a mess it has been fixing the car. sooooo many diffrent hands have been in this car and alot of poor work has to be all redone along with the rust of a 50 year old north east car. we also rounded the trunk corners with matching rain gutters in the trunk plus we are going to remove the louvers that where put in the hood that look like they belong on a gym locker door.

Slag,You fixed all the rust !!!http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Down to the last spot welds and contours, all the structural work underneath the car is virtually undetectable!!

I think you should get a tranny hooker to pick the color of the car for you arter you sneak a Dirty Sanchez to Him/Her.
Sorry for the ill-reference Mr. Leonetti. I will be over for the hubcaps soon (hopefully this week.
