Joint, Clutch & Gear. It's a driveline shop over in Romulus out my way. They shorten, balance and custom make driveshafts...I've had a few done there with no complaints.

They won't care that you're puttin' a five cylinder Audi engine in your car with a powerglide...in fact, they probably won't even ask! They just do what ya tell 'em ya want...real pros!!!

try to make sure both driveshafts are the same size! around here it costs extra to make an "adaptor" from one size to the next
balancing should be included in the price of the chop http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Call them bastards first, dude. When I f'ed up my driveshaft in my 93 Chevy, they wanted 600 freakin dollars to "fix" it... and the new one was only 411!!! They know what they are doing, but man do they charge accordingly!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sometimes..........just sometimes,
If the lenght is correct on your driveshaft, you can buy a Mechanics U Joint............it will have 2 different size joints so you can put the yoke you want on the driveshaft you have OR use the driveshaft you have to the rear end yoke U joints size.

I would imagine the place FatHack told you about has them .... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I get mine at NAPA..........a friend works there.....and I look at the catalogs to find what I need.

I assume you are talking about a U-joint that has sides of two different lengths(widths). Around Wyoming we call them conversion joints, and I got mine at the local AutoZone, after chewing some ass until the manager went in back and showed the dumass that was helping where they were. He was fired the next week. It was something like $9 to $14.

The guys at Joint Clutch & Gear will talk to ya on your level...they've solved a few oddball mis-matches for me in the past. A little pricey sometimes, but damn good at what they do!

Oh, wait a minute...shit! There used to be a guy out on Vining Road that did custom driveshafts out of his backyard shop...I got my big block Torino shaft done there. Real reasonable and did a great job, too.
It's been YEARS...but his place was/is right near where Joint Clutch & Gear is now...we can scope it out and see what's what!
