My mother in laws neighbor hit one of those last week and he is paralized now from the neck down...he somehow broke his neck in the accident. I can't imagine what one of those things would do to an a bone or deuce hitting them at about 60...yikes.

Ouch!!!
I hit a moose up in NH near the white mountains about 7 years ago in a 95 Ford Bronco. I managed to swerve and hit his ass end, but it still f'd up the front end. Cops said it was a baby(approx 500 lbs). I went from 65 to 30 in seconds. Unreal, the damn thing walked about 30 yards then died. Cops were more interested if I was going to keep it than if we were ok. The damn guys from town came to pick up the moose before the tow truck got there! I can't even imagine if it was a rod, it woulda been totalled and people killed.

Deer & sheep usually crunch the front end and go under or bounce off. Moose, Elk, Cows and Buffalo are taller and tend to slide over the hood and wind up in the car with you. Bears on the other hand are like hitting a pissed off tree with claws and fangs. First the car bounces off then the Grizz thinks, OK asshole, now it's MY turn!

That's some serious shit. I hope the moose died quick and the driver lived, although it doesn't look likely. A wounded, scared and pissed-off moose in the cab with you will definitely put a damper on your day.

About 10 years ago I hit a small deer in my VW bug. I only got the ass end but the deer totaled the left fender and left a ton of hair between the tire and rim.
Around a year later, I was riding shot gun in our 80's Ford work van and a full grown deer ran right out into the highway (202, outside of Philly). My buddy who was driving tried to time the deers gait and miss it but the deer stutter stepped, took a leap, and come right through the windshield. We must of been doing thirty when we hit it.
The whole cab filled with dust and the body was inches from my lap. I don't know how it happened, but the windshield held and the deer flew back out.
We got real lucky. I've seen those boys do some serious damage.
A guy here died when a deer ended up in the cab of his Toyota truck with him. Bambi ended up pummelling the poor guy to death with his hind legs before the guy could get out of the truck. I had to go tow in the wreck afterwards. Big mess.....

Sorry Brush, looks like a 1 year old male calf. You can see his horn stump still in velvet in the second picture.

November 2002. 1153 miles from home. 45mph, trees real close to the asphalt. 8-pointer jumps out of the woods and my left headlight catches him in the hip.
