When I replaced the firewall on my '36 coupe, I removed an aluminum ID tag that read "770 II28".
I know this isn't the serial number of the car (its stamped on the frame rail). Any experts out there in HAMB-a-LAND who can tell me what this is? I suspect its the body ID number but would like to confirm this. If so, does it some how coincide with the serial number?

I believe 770 is the model of the body (don't have reference book here) and the other is a sequential production number for the body within that group of bodies from a particular supplier. The numbers do not link to the chassis serial number at all, and I would assume they were really just tracking numbers for the body plant.
