I bought a narrowed Ford 9" rear end with what Moser Engineering calls "Late style Big Ford" bearing retainer plates, with it I got a set of brand new drum brakes, but they fit "early style big ford" bearing retainers. My questions are:
1)What are the aprox. years/models for what they are calling late style and early style big ford rear ends ?
2)Will the brakes interchange to the early and late backing plates ?
3)If the answer to #2 is yes, does anyone have a set of backing plates they want to sell ?
4)If the answer to #2 is no, does anyone want to buy the brakes I have ?
Thanks
Ric

surely they mean the differences in the end of housing and its bolt pattern.
The last ones-I got from them was a few years back and they came with the new bearings already pressed on axle with no retainers.
They included a C shaped affair that included all four mounting holes but would slide in between the bearing and the flange to retain the bearing in the housing.
Their bearing did have a groove cut around them to hold an O ring instead of the press in seal that was original on the 9" rears.
It worked fine.
I was kinda wondering about the company's status since Greg and his wife were killed........

Here is the difference in the early and late bolt pattern. IIRC the late is from the early 70's on - mostly truck. The backing plates will have a different hole pattern. I don't know if the brakes themselves will interchange, but I don't see why not, as long as they are the correct size for the backing plate. Here is a web site that may help...
