All heaven be praised its another new guy. I just figured thats more or less what your thinking. I heard this is the best place for answers to questions and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 32 have a wife, kids and an unhealthy obsession with old iron. I used to drive a semi over the road hauling dryvan, and tanker loads but 2 years of too many days away from home and a minor accident later I drive a 15 ton straight truck hauling construction and commercial garbage(lots of good stuff to scavenge if your not to proud to dive for it) My current project is a 27 roadster, glass body..*waiting for the laughter to die down* but I wanted to start a project and wasnt sure I could find a real one plus I didnt trust my abilities to work on one. Its channeled 5" has a 10bolt gm rear with coil overs, 4" drop tube on the front with friction shocks, 36" hairpins, wilwood disks, rattle can black(soon to be john deere blitz black)a black and white checkered firewall proudly done my my son and myself, a home built dash from a late 80s pickup doorskin, good ole plywood floors, steelies all the way around, seats are a home built combination of an old pizza place hotplate for the base(stainless)old truck cushion cut down and mexican blanket cover. The grill is an unidentified swap meet piece with a winged emblem. The rest is still under way but I'm drooling over a 6 2bbl setup on a sb chevy unless something more vintage comes along. My back up project is a 53 merc which is waiting for winter.
I have always worked on my own cars, could never afford a "real" mechanic but I've always wanted to start with a frame and work my way through. Who knows maybe someday I'll be the one laughing at some new guys questions, but until then I hope you can put up with mine.

Bottom line, its a start and believe me, sometimes all steel is not the answer. Mine 27' roadster is almost complete, but it came w/ a "bucket of rust" Lots of patches and new steel. But hey, im not complaining. Im happy to have it. My first roadster.

Any picts of the ride. Here is mine and basically the shape its in now. Dont mind the dew, This is the day I got it, I mocked it up and jumped in for the photo session. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif 10 hr. trip to get this baby.!!!

Welcome -- I second the father-and-son deal. Best way to do cars (unless you got a daughter that's into it, too) http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
