I put a 54 Ford Gasser on Ebay tonight (again). Took it to the Indy Road Rockets show and met some cool guys and found some old friends who told me about this site. Looks like most of you cats have seen this before. It is up for sale this time and I'd like somebody cool to own it. I have a chance to buy five restored mid 50's-60's mercury convertibles at my 80 year old ex-mechanics house that are for sale for prices that will make me feel a bit bad for the first couple of minutes of buying them from him. Can anybody help a brotha out by buyin a gasser? I got some pretty foolish gold chain e-mails asking me to part the car out and sell it without the hood and other stuff that made me wonder how to send bullets through e-mail. Surely somebody understands this car.

Is that the same one I was watching and than you pulled it?

Yeah, that's it. I couldn't add any pictures to the listing after it got bids and was getting about 100 e-mails a day asking for more pictures. So I pulled the listing, put the motor in, took more pictures, and put it back. I couldn't respond to each e-mail one at a time. Everybody thought I sold it and just ended the auction but I was just getting it all put back together...hence the "error in the listing"...which was couldn't add pictures.

Looks like the other new guy post I saw was getting his balls busted on a cool car (the 55 wagon) so I skipped the New Guy post as I get em busted at home by the wife already. Not to be rude...just skippin a few steps.

wait a minute!! I know your e-mail. You bought something from me on Ebay about a year ago...I think it was a 39 Ford Rearend.

I think he got his balls busted 'cause he posted a classified and didn't post an intro. These are a bunch of great folks on here, but put some protection over your privates if you don't plan on posting an intro.

Brett, I think he should at least let us know who he is, but he should appreciate you giving him some slack.

Alright alright....I was just bustin my new neighbors chops today for not coming over and shakin my hand when I went out to the fence to introduce myself and here I am being a slackass to ya'll. Sorry. I am the new guy. Name is Ron Garrett, most folks know me just as Scoob. Seems I know or have dealt with a lot of guys on here at some point in the past. Thanks for posting a picture of the car. I was trying and couldn't find a picture in small enough resolution to get on this site. My computer skills are lacking. I dig the site...can't believe the amount of input it gets! Great to see so many people helping each other out and dishing it up when it needs to be. I am trying to clean a little house right now as I am in the midst of a move to a bigger garage...er...house. That is why the gasser and some other stuff is for sale and there will be more but I'm still keeping the studebaker gasser and the other ford pseudo-gasser so I'll still be on board. So Hi to everybody. Thanks for the great pictures of the show Chad.

Hey Scoob, what is the history on this thing?

Man, the gasser is stalled out at $7800 right now but nearly 200 people have the auction bookmarked so we'll see what tomorrow brings. I put a $16k reserve on it which seems like a lot for car that ain't shiny but when you tally up the parts on it, it's not so crazy. This crap ain't cheap anymore and the guys who have it, aren't selling it. There are a lot of parts hoarders out there that just hang stuff in the garage for "someday". I don't have the cash to do that so if I am not using something, it is for sale for somebody who can.

I think the auction summed it up for me. There are guys with taste and guys with money. Someday they will meet. Anybody need a 53 studebaker, a 53 packard ragtop, a 68 eldorado, a hilborn for a nailhead or a y-block, or a 6 deuce for a 427? Looks like I am going to be selling some stuff!!

How nice is the 68 Eldo and what do you want for it?

I have a friend who is all about late 60's & early 70's Eldos.

For whatever reason, I just saw this reply. The caddy is freakin nice. I just got it from California. IT runs good and is 99% rust free. The tranny is slipping though and I can't decide whether or not to spend the money to rebuild it. I am in it for $1400.

The Y block unit I think is sold, and I am offering the Nailhead unit with the Buick powered 53 studebaker I have on classifieds for $2700 total (car and hilborn)
