alright heres the problem im running a 40 sumthing ford rear end with the spring behind on a model A sedan. i was gonna run the bones from the backing plates to the frame rail but if i channel the sedan as much as i want to (8 to 10 inches)... it looks as if the bones are gonna be in the way of the body...can you bend the bones? or is there a very easy way around this ? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

thanks in advance

Build some brackets off your crossmember and mount them in a modified stock position - mine is channeled 4"

Some builders run the bones between the frame and the body, but Be sure to leave enough room for suspension travel!

I tend to like the modified stock position so that I don't have to worry about clearance problems in a visible area such as any body areas...!

OK...heres the deal kid...
Even a torque tube rear...with the wishbones spread fully will just move up and down, but won't lean without something flexing/bending. Bend it far enough or flex it often enough and something will break.
Soooo...the question you need to ask yourself is this...

"Do I have enough room to run her straight off the trailer or will I need to turn BEFORE all the wheels are on the ground, thus causing undue stress to my weak little forged ends as the tires angle off the ramps..."

To tell ya the truth...I'm not sure myself.
Sooo...I guess it all boils down to one thing...
Do you feel lucky...

Well, DO YA punk?

Don't ya just love "Dirty Harry" movies! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
