Welcome Ron. Post some pics when you can (it's kinda like Playboy, readin's ok but we like to look at the pictures http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif).
You may want to back off on the "rat rod" term. Not everyone here is into that. We like to think of them as "traditional".

Long Island Vic,
You are right, nearly every post so far has been busting my balls - especially in the classifieds section.

Donzie,
I call a Spade a Spade - Rat Rod is the term we use near Cincinnati. We are behind the time here but there are very few "traditional" hot rods out there. I don't want to get too technical but there are very few cars anymore that are built using entirely pre 1970 parts.
Ron
What are these RatRads you speak of?

Here is one - it sucks the files have to be so small. Rat Rod, by my definition, would be ratty as can be on the outside yet drivable to Events just about anywhere - take for example my 55, it is slammed and looks ratty - it has Air Ride Suspension, A/C and a killer motor - drive anywhere. If you guys don't like the term Rat Rod I can be persuaded to change. Please grace me with your extended vocabulary and tell me the correct terminology.

I'm pretty sure I've looked at your wagon at different events, but would never call it a Ratrod.
To each there own though...
Welcome anyhow! going to columbus?
Thats not a RatRad, it is a cool car........now change or face the wrath of Khan! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Grumpy,
I will be at Columbus - only on Friday and I don't think I will have the Bitchin 55 Wagon there. I am going to take my 26 T and see if I can move it. The 55 has been at Indy and Columbus the last 4 years.
I have attached a picture of the engine in the Bitchin 55 Wagon.

Hello Ron! Welcome. The un-informed tend to lump all old kinda rough cars into Ratrods.Which we all know they are not. Your car(s) is too individual to be generalized, that way. Traditional, homebuilt, timeless,classic,pre-digital cars ,truck, bikes,or whatever all have their own special look. I would'nt even say "old sKool",cause I don't know what that means either!! Anyway, you are in the right place ,and good to have ya! Glenn
ive seen that wagon at g.g. the past few years. nothing 'ratty' about it that i can see. very cool..

That engine compartment looks like a Scott Sullivan type of deal. Bright paint with ugly stuff blacked out to make it blend in. Kind of like his orange 55 that Hot Rod drove cross country about 20 years ago.
It looks good, seems like everyone wants to run cast aluminum faux billet stuff with engraved flames or heartbeat on them.
Show more pics of this wagon for us.

Welcome RatWagon.
If you like the term, then use it. Lots of people like to get their panties in a bunch over the term Rat Rods.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I don't really see the issue. Call them rat rods, call them hot rods, call them what ever.....Just GET 'UM on down the road (without falling apart). http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Street Rods, Street Machines, Jalopies, etc. etc....
I had my car on the road for a year before someone on here informed me it was a "street machine"....as opposed to a hot rod. They definitely informed me it was NOT traditional. When I'm out driving, it doesn't really cross my mind how to classify my ride. The words floating through my mind are words like "oh shit, this if fun"...."Wow, 100mph is kinda scary in this thing"....."I really need to rebuild that frontend"......"what was that rattle".....
"oh man, I love this car".....
Point is....There ain't no point.
Rat Rod, Rat Rod, Rat Rod......If I say that 3 times at midnite while staring into the mirror, will a hot rod demon appear and kick my ass?
Hope to see your stuff around sometimes. You wouldn't happen to know "Dauber" would ya?
Again, Welcome.
VT.

I know of Dauber - had a few cars that he pinstriped but I don't know him personally.
I agree with you - there is no feeling like cruisin in a Hot Rod.

Any of various long-tailed rodents resembling mice but larger, especially one of the genus Rattus.
Any of various animals similar to one of these long-tailed rodents.
Slang.
A despicable person, especially one who betrays or informs upon associates.
A scab laborer.
A pad of material, typically hair, worn as part of a woman's coiffure to puff out her own hair.
Don't see anything about cars. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Maybe we should start calling them Snitch Rods? or Scab Rods?http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Sorry I have always thought labels and names were kinda lame.
Nice 55 & welcome

Cool car. It's your car call it what you want. As far as terms and styles of cars, it seems different areas and groups of people have different meanings. Sometimes the translations get lost kind like stories and jokes. When they have been told to a few people they seem to change over time.
Welcome, by the way I think I got lucky on my intro, I didn't get busted too bad.

THAT car is a big part of the inspiration for my bud Chris50's Ford Sedan. Kinda ratty on the outside but clean and solid underneath!
