If the bell is from a small truck you can use a Toploader 4spd. Don't know if the large trucks bells are any different. From my understanding, if ya get an early toploader (64 only?) no mods are required. '65 and later require that the large OD of the throwout bearing shaft/snout be turned down slightly to allow it to fit into the bellhousing. Anybody with a lathe can do this. Also depending upon the year you may have to drill the 4 mounting holes. Again real easy since the toploader flanges are cast to allow this.

Got pics of the bellhousing? I think if it's a standard small truck bellhousing, it can be relatively easily modified to accept a T10 or Toploader - I don't think Ford changed the input shaft length until the T5 came out...all w/in 1/4" or so.

If you like the idea of a 5spd, you'll need an adapter plate, but it's all flat-plate machining, so simple chore for any machine shop.

Don't forget a pilot bushing! Seen plenty of folks swap to manual & leave out the pilot bushing - hard shifting (in some cases, impossible to shift) & wipes out input bearing in a hurry!

Hey Cody,

Bring the bellhousing to the shop with you tomorrow. I will make it work.
