So there is a new sprinkler head right in front of my assigned parking spot at the apartment that is f'ing up my paintjob but good. I've bitched to the complex 3 times now, and they've yet to fix it... meanwhile, 3 times a night my truck is sprinkled with what looks like water mixed with concrete! I've spent quite a sum so far trying to get the white spots off, and just today I've spent 3 hours scrubbing with no luck. If I have to have a professional buff out my truck, there's gonna be a lawsuit believe me! So what gets this crap off? I've tried vinegar, no luck. Hell, I even tried scrubbing with one of those bug/tar handiwipes with no luck.
Grrrrrr http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Mama's pissed!

On, I'm beyond a bucket, I've sabotaged the sprinkler head... now it only hits my truck in one spot... of course that spot is smack dab in the middle of my hood...
Grrrrr... Mama's still pissed.
Good thing I have a lawyer in the family. He's good at writing letters for me.

Some name brand cleaner wax...work it several time's different direction's. Ever think of a car cover? With that treated water and BLAZING sun/heat.....

The cover has been purchased... the damage is already done tho'... my parking spots at home and work are covered. This shit is beyond store brand wax... believe me... and besides, I've already tried that...
...but thanks for your 20/20 hindsight.
Can you hear the panic in my voice? This is the first new vehicle I've ever owned... its special to me... if this feeling in the pit of my stomach doesn't subside, I may go postal in my apartment office on Tuesday morning...
I don't want to go postal...

What about some of that stuff you are supposed to spray in the shower to keep away water spots?
Gracie

I don't want to hurt the paint underneath the spots... remember, its a crappy factory paintjob from Ford to begin with... I also don't want to ruin my pinstriping that Sammy did before I moved away from Birmingham either.
Maybe I'll take it to Carl's shop next week and pay him to buff it out... and force the apartment folks to pay the bill.

have them readjust the head. take a pic of the head ill tell you how to do it

They've readjusted it twice now, and I've sat a big giant rock on it too. The chickee in the office just laughed when I told her about it, she said she doesn't care about her car, that she's never even washed it. I had a hard time not using the "C" word with her.

Dont you just love people like that? She doesnt give a shit about her heap so why should you care about your car? After all new cars only cost 25 grand or so.

Try some white vinager, 1 part to 3 parts water to pull the alkaline from your paint. Try it on an inconspicuas (there's a new spelling)spot, incase of damage from the vinager

<font color="red"> The head can be adjusted so that it only sprays like 2 inches and away from your car......I know because I usta own a lanscaping buisness.....as for the stains they will come off with CLR and should not hurt the paint.........and if that don't work just pull on the head until you can see where it connects with the pipe attatched to it.....most have "flexible" pipe extensions...just un-screw the head and replace with a threaded cap from the Hardware/plumbing store....most Home Depots or Lowes will carry the stuff....good luck......OH AND GO TAKE A HUGE SHIT ON THAT "CHICKIES" HOOD BETT SHE WILL LOVE THAT!

The vinegar didn't work, didn't hurt the paint, but didn't help the spots either...

California Clay Bar Kit. Even if you have it buffed, this stuff is good. Too bad your so far away.....I'd do a buff, polish, wax 2 coat's and Rain X the glass for $100 cash.

I suddenly realized what the chicks over there in Dixie use in their hair.
Not like west Texas where we don't hardly have any water at all

And I always thought that Louisianna had the worse water... Cajun water may smell like farts, but at least it won't ruin your paint job!

Like slammed said, use the clay bar with the lubricant. Here is a video ad for Mother's California Gold Clay System...clay is amazing, you won't believe how well it works! There are many other clay products available, some say that the Mother's is a little harder than others...I'm not that well versed in ALL the products, but I haven't seen one yet that doesn't do a great job.

Well if what you've tried hasn't worked I guess I'll give up my ancient South Cali secret. haha Three words for ya Castrol Super Clean. Put in on a rag full strength and gently rub it. Make sure and rinse it off well tho and don't do this when the body is hot. Cool temp on the surface is ideal.
ask the family lawyer about the pro rub job,
you said new car, to me that means bank owned/full coverage,
get it rubbed out, have your insurance pay for it, they can send the bill to the chicky...
or just sit her ass on the sprinkler head every night.

maybe you could get another parking spot assigned? if that fails, try Salt Away, it's a kick ass produt for salt removal, you can get it @ West Marine, I'm sure they've got a store out by Lake Mead

Yay! Looks like I don't have to worry about trying to fix it myself... the apartments called and they are paying for a good truck-buffin'! Whoo hoo! Of course they will prolly just back charge the sprinkler company, but at least I don't have to foot the bill!
