Is it cool to run hose directly from the tank to the pump and then hose to the engine compartment.Or should i go steel line into the pump and then run hose from the pump to the fuel block??? Also who is making a good Electric Fuel Pump now days?? Been a while since I've done this...

Well personally I would run steel from tank to pump but attach both with rubber to the steel line.

Ok so run a nipple off the tank and pump and run a short piece of hose and then steel in between..That could work,,never thought of that...?? Thanks

If you minimize the amount of hose, you have done yourself a favor. I comment on this only after having been too smart to do it the right way, and living with the attendant headaches......

aluminum fuel line (http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=199610&prmenbr=361)
this is the trick stuff to use. cheap and easy to bend. use this stuff for everything but the flexible connections between the motor and chassis. David

You try to keep the amount of rubber fuel line hose in the system to an absolute MINIMUM! You really only need or want it at the flex points, or connections...such as at the tank, and going from the frame to the fuel pump.
For a carbureted vehicle with a single carb and mechanical fuel pump, I will install maybe a 2" piece of rubber hose at the gas tank to connect to steel line, then run steel line up to where the fuel pump is, and then use maybe a 2 to 4 inch piece of rubber hose to hook up the pump.
From the pump, I like a steel "hard line" run to the carb with a thread-on filter, but I've also installed inline fuel filters in the steel line between the pump and carb using small pieces of rubber hose to connect the filter to steel at each end.
Most drag strips won't let ya run if you have more than that much rubber fuel line...they specify the amount in inches that you are allowed to have in the ENTIRE fuel system COMBINED...can't remember if it's six inches or twelve, but they mainly look to see that you've used it in the proper locations, and only used as much as was neccessary. Show up with fifteen feet of rubber hose connecting your gas tank to the engine, and they'll turn you around at the gate!
(Run around like that for very long and Burndup may get his wish! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

spend another 20 bucks on flare nuts and AN fittings and such, and you can have a top notch looking fuel system, without all that bling bling braided line shit. David
