View Full Version : Events in the Maryland/D.C. area?
I'm gonna be in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area between july 11th and 20th and was wondering if there will be a car show/event going on around the same time? I'm planning on shipping about 50 lbs of oneshot and paint supplies up ther before I leave to keep me busy but I would like to be able to take them to a show.
thanks for any help

Every Sunday morning 8 AM at the Burtonsville Md. Donut shop. Depending on the weather. If there is a local show that day, there will be a caravan to it. It's on the N.W. corner of Rte 29 and Rte 198. Lots of guys show up only for a few hours before taking on chores or other non hot rod activities. Lots of cars and you can't beat the price. There are several cruise nights in the metro area during the week. Sat night in Manassas Va. is supposed to be a big one. Eldersburg Md. on Sat night too. Rte 98 just west of Rte 3/97 near Balt-Wash Airport (BWI) on Sat. nights. Thursday nights down rte 5 somewhere. It's a 2 lane rd. down there so when you see the hot rods you found the place. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Theres a cruise night almost every night somewhere semi-local. I can't keep them all straight. Get up Sunday morning and ask around at the donut shop. Bring a note book to write them all down.

There's a cruise (technically its a "park" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) every Saturday in Manassas. It's at the McDonalds parking lot on #234 bypass at #28.
There's a pretty good automotive display at the American History museum that includes a short discussion of hot rods and includes a very nice A-V8 roadster.
Finally, if you have time, check out the new Air & Space museum annex adjacent to Dulles Airport. Not trad hot rod-related, but it does have some great old hardware.

I've been seeing a lot of folks at the Harbor Freight/El Salto parking lot on Saturday evenings in Baltimore (take Perring Parkway north off of 695...cross over the light and turn right into the parking lot...and get yourself some kick ass Mexican food at El Salto while you're there!).
There's also a bike show at Sylvester's Saloon on Sunday, July 18th...they're on Golden Ring Road, also in Baltimore.
Tommy, I didn't know that went on down in Burtonsville. That parking lot was my high school stomping ground...although back then we were populating it with Chevy IIs and 4x4s! I'll have to head down some morning.
