Howdy folks, I have been lurking around here the last few days, and I gotta say, It looks like yall have alot of fun, and help each other alot.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Bert, and I am a 33 year old HVAC tech. I live in a small town in central Texas that is located about 30 miles west of Bryan / College Station. Ever since I can remember, I was into custom cars. Every car I have ever owned was customized in some way. I started out with mini trucks, them moved on to lowriders. I grew out of lowriders, and got into the jet boat scene. Well, I just finished a total resto on my old jet boat, so i figured it was time to start something else. So I picked up an old 48 chevy truck from an old local body shop/ hot rodder owner. I told him what I was looking for, and he took me to his back pasture, and told me to pick out the one I wanted. I bet he had 10 or 15 of them old trucks out there.
Well, any way, this is gonna be my first traditional styled truck build, so i am sure I will have tons of questions.

Oh yea, I also picked up an extra cab with the beginings of a 5" chop, and suicide doors, and an extra front clip. Here are a few pics of what I have to work with.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I plan on setting this thing up on an s10 frame. Mainly cause it was redily available, and they are so damn easy to bag. I also just picked up a lwb 72 GMC for $300 and I drove it home. That is gonna be my donar motor and tranny, along with anything else i can rob off of it.

LOL I get that alot.........I have a good buddy that is a wiz at metal fabrication, and he assured me that between the two cabs, we can make it work. I'm not looking to build a trailer queen show truck. I want to build this thing to drive anywhere I want to go.
