as far as i know if it's not real flake, the solvents in the paint will melt the flake and make a mess

I have used craft glitter a few times without any problems, but I would put some in the reducer to see if there is a reaction before you shoot your car!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Theres some Black Magic spray stuff that you can spray on your car like spray paint and wash off whenever, I thought of getting some cause Advanced Auto is clearing it out http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i have gone around and around about this with guys before......yes check it in some thinner to see if it melts......BUT just because it doesn't melt doesn't mean it will last....i have seen some that after a while in the sun it fades like crazy.......my advise is to save your money and buy the real shit.......besides it is not that much in the grand total of the material costs when flaking a car.....the color and clear cost A LOT more........just my .02......

And some of the colors fade real fast.
The proper stuff isn't real expensive,OSF is about $8 for 2 oz. http://www.innate.com/Paint/OSF/Regular%20Flake.htm
The real money is in all the clear you'll need.

Remember if you want it smooth you have to be able to burry anything you put on and real flake is real thin so its easier to burry

another thing to remember... my dad always said......if you can't afford to do it right....you sure as hell can't afford to do it over........i try to live by that and it works......believe me i have done shit the cheap way before.and there is usually a very good reason it was cheaper......

My buddy flaked his shoebox with craft glitter. Looks real good but he said it was expensive cause he had to buy so much of it. Let me see if I can find a pic.

you CAN'T get "great" clear for $100/gallon, but you can get "ok" stuff for that. I used the Dupont Nason and it layed out really nice and finished out well. I tried the Transtar but didn't like it, it flowed TOO well for me. Don't skimp on the flake, it's about the cheapest ingredient to a flake job anyway so theres not much point. I haven't seen craft glitter last on anything that got alot of sun exposure, most of it I've seen either melts in the clear, or the color bled off of it into the clear.....and be sure to listen to ANYTHING donnie tells you about flake!
