a friend has this '79 caddy with a 425 in it...he was sayin how you never hear about dudes putting these engines in a rod or kustom['round here anyway] and he was going to put it in his '29 are they a good idea or lots of work ..also he's been talkin' about running a late '70s ford inline six in his rod project with some killer zoomies,,,any of you guys seen or run on of those little numbers in a rod...i'd like to read your opinions... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
It would be a 425 actually, and they're pretty strong motors. They're generally ignored for the 472 and 500, as they're the same block size but with a buttload more cubic inches. Anyhow, check out Maximum Torque Specialties (http://www.500cid.com) forums for tons of great info about these motors.

i have seen the 472 & 500 in a bunch of stuff & only a few 425's, but whyyy not, isn't the name of the game to be "DIFFERENT". I'm putting a 77 caddy 425 in my 48 bus that you see as my avatar, why because it was CHEAP & it ran great & there are speed stuff out there if ya want it. BUT as for the 29 well i cant tell if it'll fit or not but it sure will fill up that engine bay right up...joe
I'm putting one in a '49 Caddy Hearse, cause it's what I've got... and it runs great...

ya 425 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif...hahaha thanks... so is that still considered a small block then....and is it the same block as a 283-350
It's actually in teh same family as the 472/500 Cadillacs. It's got some slight differences so some of the performance stuff won't work, but that's its lineage.
